I think protein bars are different. I can only eat a bite or two of the denser ones before I start to feel full. I can eat an entire Power Crunch bar, though. My program says no protein bars as they're glorified candy bars, but sometimes it's more convenient. I do look at labels and try to find one with less sugar.

Thank you Kelly for all the information that you provide. You are wonderful!!  I agree with you...its not advice...its information.  And you help so many newbies EVERYDAY with all of your wisdom.  Concerning the last few post, when I read something on this forum, I don't take it as gospel. I do a little research to see what I can find to back it up.  I would imagine that's what most people do.  I read the statistics and the articles and then create my own decision.  Someone who takes information on here as gospel and does no further research is just putting themselves into a bad situation and that is not caused by you.  That is caused by them and their lack of reasoning skills.  I don't feel that you are doing anything wrong.  But this is just my opinion.  However, I'll bet that the majority of the RNY forum feels the same way about you.  :)  Keep it up!!  angry

thank you.  And I hope everyone does a little research and discusses things with their healthcare providers.  No one should be making really important decisions based on anonymous information or advice they get online.

Completely agreed. I always follow up with my surgeon, NUT, PCP or anyone else that I need to!  :)

Kelly,

Your information that you provided on here regarding ASMBS guidelines encouraged me to discuss my vitamin levels with my Dr. which led to my B12 levels improving.  Thank you!!

You are welcome.

I think we should always be talking to our doctors.  Even when I sometimes disagree with a doctor and decide not to follow their advice, I talk about it and let them know what I am going to do and why.  For instance, when my surgeon advised me to take Caltrate, which is calcium carbonate, I researched it and let him know I was going to take calcium citrate instead, since many sources stated we absorb that better.

Of course it would need to be non carbonated, decaf, non alcoholic, low carb and slowly sipped !
