Chest congestion remedies?

So my sinuses have been going crazy the past couple days, which I finally figured out the cause, but when I woke up this morning the post nasal drip has caused severe chest congestion. Does anyone know of an OTC medicine that works good with the RNY? I have tried many medications over several years, but nothing is very effective. Is there an expectorant that works better with the RNY?

I am preop so I have no idea about post surgery but the lung Dr I work for recommends mucinex or plain old guaifenisen. But gotta get those sinuses stopped too. Lots of saline nasal rinse and if allergies are triggering try chlorpheniramine 4mg at night (brand name chlortrimaton etc). Hope you feel better!

Have you tried Mucinex? I also take the "fake" Sudafed pills to combat congestion before it turns into post-nasal drip.
Both are okayed by my doc. Hope you get relief soon!

I personally have not had any trouble with OTC meds not working (or not working as well) since my RNY.  I take Mucinex for congestion and mucus, take either Claritin or Zyrtec for the other sinus problems when needed, and take Robitussin for coughing.
