Time to Break the Daily Weigh-Ins
I'm Chris and I am a weigh-a-holic too. I like to think I have used the scale as a tool. In a weird way it is refreshing to see how my weight changes on a daily basis. Rather than making me insane I use it to re-enforce by plan. Certainly not for everyone and the accepted logic is don't do it!!
After doing this for a very long time I have begun to develop a thicker skin. Instead of freaking out when the scale jumps I have begun taking it in stride. See even though I KNOW I am following the plan and exercising there was a time when that jump would sideline my efforts big time. Some of my key observations are that normally:
I can't gain a lb over nite nor can I lose one.
It takes time to build/lose fat, muscles etc. from a few days to a week or so, sort of a process.
Most weight shifts are due to water retention for various reasons
One cup of water weighs a little over 8 oz and I drinke at least 4 lbs of water a day
If I weigh in after drinking water I weigh more, go figure lol
I have worked hard at and actually practice turning the scale into a tool to bolster my stick-to-it-ness. Not for everyone and I respect that, but you are not alone. If you do continue try to turn it into a positive by seeing all of your past progress and how far you have come from the beginning of your journey.
