G-Tube Question

Does it hurt to get it removed. ???? Do you get put to sleep???

No, it doesn't hurt at all. The RN *****moved mine distracted me by talking; moved pretty quickly and it was done before I knew it. Feels a little weird but didn't hurt. Having it in was more of a hassle than the removal.

Was wide awake and terrified it would hurt. Looked away at my husband for a moment and it was over - I felt nothing.

For me it felt like they knock they breath out of me for a second, but it was just for a second or two

No, to both questions. They just snip the stitch at the surface that helps hold the tube, and then usually they tell you to take in a very deep breath and as you are doing that, they pull it out. Just a moment of discomfort and then you get a band-aid over the hole. No big deal.

The removal was just a little strange. I didn't feel any pain at all, maybe nauseous for 30 seconds because it is a bit of a sensation. Don't worry about this one...you will be just fine!

Thank you all for your Response, but what happens to the stomach after it is remove does it leave a small hole or something ?

Your stomach is a muscle, so it basically pulls closed once the tube is pulled out. You will have the hole in your skin, though, for a few days until it heals closed.
