Groin pull
Is there anything I can take? Tylenol doesn't cut it and I don't want to take dilaudid at work.
If it still hurts on Monday, I'll see the doctor.
Ice/heat alternating may help. They make an Excedrine that uses acetometaphin (sp?) as a base (not aspirin) that I find works a bit better than Tylenol. And while I can't talk about the methyl salicylate ingredient and it's affect on our digestive system, I have used on occasion when absolutely needed, the generic equivalent of a Salon Pas dermal patch for painful muscles (overuse and strains). Again, I have not be able to ascertain from any pharmacist about the possible detrimental effects of the active ingredient, but I have used without issue only on an as-desparately-needed occasion (I have shoulder/rotator cuff issues).
As the other poster suggested, physical therapy is a good remedial therapy to help strengthen the muscle groups to prevent future injury. And never, ever forget to stretch after you complete any form of competivite race -- I consider stretching a non-negotiable activity after any kind of running or fast walking. Your muscles with thank you!
