Post-op liquid diet ideas
...just wanted to thank this forum and the folks on it...I am getting ready for surgery and what I am reading is and will be very helpful...how much pain will I be going through can anyone guesstimate...and my hair I am glad I have postpone cutting my hair until after surgery...I don't have date yet I am still at the doctor evaluation part but almost done ....thank you everyone
The first nights sleep was the worst cause I had the iv in my wrist (not above my hand because they couldn't find a vein) - that was probably the most unpleasant part for me. 2nd night was better and I was able to sleep a little on my side. 3rd night was at home and it was great. Was able to sleep on both sides quite comfortably.
I have to say that despite being 251 lbs on the morning of surgery, I am a pretty healthy person and have always been relatively active, not sure if that helped though.
Best of luck and keep us posted!
I didn't have pain so much as discomfort. This was remedied easily with my handy little pain med button (wonderful invention!). Don't let your meds go. Ask for them for the first couple of days and stay on top of it. Also, walking helped so much with getting all of the air and fluids out that they pump into you during surgery. I was walking at 4 am one morning because I couldn't sleep. All in all it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Good luck to you.
