The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery recommends a minimum amount that they say everyone should take.  Not everyone takes everything they recommend, though, for a variety of reasons.

What people take beyond that should be based on their blood work.

That's right! I take them all properly, and I was a little forgetful about taking with B-12.... and the blood work showed it, so I make sure I get the 5000 mcg daily. Waiting to see better numbers for 12 month blood chemistry check. I have been taking all vitamins, since you can't fake the data. It keeps me on top of daily vitamin intake so I do not have any medical problems from not following the guide lines from all of the bariatric education classes I had to take pre-op.
