OT-exhaustion

I don't think this has anything to do with my WLS, but I have been totally exhausted the last few days.  Wednesday I took the dog out and fed the dog and the cat, then went back to bed and slept all morning.  I had to go to the dentist in the afternoon, and I went out to dinner with a friend that night.  Yesterday, I slept all day.  I got up to take the dog out and feed the animals and I ran to the store to buy cat food because otherwise the cat was not going to get fed, but other than that, I slept all day.  This morning I got up and took the dog out and went back to bed.  I'm up now, but I'm really, really tired.  Like, so tired I can barely stay awake.

I've been having a lot more back pain the last couple days, so maybe that's making me tired.  I'm not taking extra pain meds or anything that would make me sleepy, though.  And my back is actually feeling better today but I'm still worn out.

My ferritin has been low but I've been taking extra iron and it's slowly going up.  I've had a full set of labs done lately and everything else was good so I'm pretty sure it's not a vitamin deficiency that's making me so tired.

I don't think I'm sick.  I don't feel sick, other than being tired.

So what the heck is going on?  I need some energy.  I have stuff to do.

I know you have said you don't sleep well at night at all. Maybe it is just catching up with you.  I know sometimes all I want to do on the weekend is sleep...recharging. Hope this is it and it will pass.  We all need you.....don't flame out on us!  :)

Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

I better not have the flu!  I had a flu shot this year.  Plus, I never go anywhere or see anyone.  I should not even be exposed to the flu.

I vote for a combined triple whammy of : 1) change of season, 2) time change and 3) a cold coming on.

Please use this weekend to sleep in and recharge.

Sometimes I need to do the weekend recharge about once or twice a year.

You know your vitamins better than most and If there is nothing there I may say wait a few days.  Perhaps its hormones perhaps you are getting sick but its not yet at the "OH CRAP I'M SICK" stage.  I know I get really tired and have been the last few days.  I have chucked it up to a mix of weather changes, PMS, and workout routines.  I know you are a vet but just the same your body just may need a few days of sleep.  Did you recently go through anything stressful (good or bad) or change your workout or sleep routine?

Hope it gets better and that you just needed some extra sleep.  I slept nearlly 12 hours two different days this week!

If it's just a few days, I wouldn't worry about it too much, and I would get the rest  your body is telling you to get in.  However, if it continues, you might want to consider getting an endocrine work-up as well as your regular vitamin level checks.  I have a rare disease called Acromegaly that stems from a pituitary tumor, and my body creates an excessive amount of growth hormone because of it.  This causes a lot of various problems, including fatigue and exhaustion, as most pituitary issues do. It's common for me to have a "crash and burn" day at least one weekend day every week. There are just days where I'm really weak and tired and my body just feels like a big blob of Jell-o. I actually call them "Jell-o days." Now, I'm not suggesting you have anything this serious, especially because my specific condition is so rare.  But, in living (knowingly) with this disease over the last 12 years, I have learned a bit more about hormones and how imbalances can really mess you up.  You don't have to have a pituitary tumor to have a hormone imbalance, as I'm sure you're aware since this surgery also impacts the endocrine system.  I wouldn't sweat a few days of needing to catch up on sleep, but if it persists for an extended period of time, I'd see a doctor about looking at your hormone levels.
