5 day pouch test
You talked about why shakes aren't used much further out -... I can keep my carb drive down & feel head-full by eating a tablespoon or two of peanuts, chewed 1-3 pieces at a time, down to nut-paste. Always works for me. After half an hour at most, I'll have my meal. Hmmm. Don't think that will work after... Hmmm. Afterall, it's fat, not protein.
Thanks again Amy

You're welcome Teri.
Actually, it might be helpful to you and others to start a thread on what some of the longer term vets eat and how they stay satiated. Like I mentioned, I know they don't use shakes as much as I do this far out, but in actuality I don't really know what they do do.
Because the sad fact is that when the malabsorption wears off, all that's left is the restriction and it becomes a matter of eating dense proteins along with other good-for-you things to keep from getting physically hungry too often. I say "physically" because I think a lot of us still get "head hunger' and we just learn to live with it while not indulging too much.
In addition to the other objections voiced above, a problem I have with the 5 day pouch test is that people treat it as if it were some approved or medically sanctioned test. It's not. You can't test or reset anything in five days.
