Sounds about right! It is a full time job and all consuming until you get it down. Recheck your pre op packet, but I am sure you are to wear the TED hose for 7-10 days , until you resume your normal level of daily activities.

I think there is supposed to be a 4 hour break between calcium and iron.

The ASMBS says two hours is enough.

Also I don't think you are supposed to start protein supplements until day 5.

This varies from surgeon to surgeon!  What YOUR program does may be drastically different from what someone else's program does!

Apologies if my previous response sounded harsh.  I did not know that you and the OP used the same surgery center and therefore have the same "rules".  In that case, she probably shouldn't be having the protein shakes yet...

We just get some newer people who come on and post as if their surgeons's rules are universal absolutes and then people get confused.

You can take your multi and calcium together, no need to do them at different times. And make sure your do at least 2 hours between calcium and Iron. For me I just measured out my water for the day then drink it as I went, I tend to drink more at night then I do during the day. Be mindful of waiting 30 mins to drink after you eat, but that doesnt come into play until your on solids but a good thing to learn now.

PLEASE pose this question to YOUR surgeons's office and do NOT go by what anyone in here says about what you should be doing immediately after surgery, because there is a HUGE discrepancy in what individual surgeons want their patients to do!  Even if 10 people tell you to do something, YOUR surgeon may want you doing something completely different.  My surgeon, for example, has her patients eating soft food in Day Three after surgery, which clearly yours does not. Some want people drinking protein shakes right away and others don't want patients drinking any protein shakes at all at any point.  You need to follow your surgeons's rules.

People here can provide support and general guidance, and can provide food guidance once you are cleared for ALL foods, but right now, rely on your surgeon's office!
