So a month ago it was my 1 year Surgiversary and today I will be going to my 1 year appointment with a totally new bariatric team. Those that know my story, know that I did not have any health insurance during my first year being a post op. I had labs drawn yesterday which were 10 freaking tubes... YIKES! So I'm praying all is well with my labs. I do miss my old bariatric team back in Chicago. Wish me luck!!!!

Good luck today!!! I hope your labs come back great-and if you have any deficiencies I am sure the new team can advise you what to do. Your new team will LOVE you. You've had astounding weight loss, you get like 90 g of protein a day, you have incorporated exercise into your life...you are a success! Do they have an in-person support group you can attend? You would be such an inspiration for the pre-ops!

Your menu looks awesome. I am going to find those tofu noodles. At 3 g of carbs per serving, I just have to try! (I looked them up online)

Thanks for the tip on the noodles!  Here's a link to a site that tells about them, and links to another site with recipes.

I can't wait to try them!

Thanks so much for the high praises!!!

I have been on top of my vitamins since day one which were the last time my labs were drawn at the hospital after surgery and everything was great then. I'm hoping my new team is straight forward and don't sugar coat anything. I have attended my first support group meeting last month so I plan on going every month.

The tofu noodles is 1/2c for 20 calories (I can only eat 1/3c though), Protein 2, Carbs 3 which you cannot beat!!! It is a great subsitution for the real thing. It can be rubbery but that's okay.

Ok, I have two packages in the fridge :)  Even if they are a little rubbery, sometimes I just want a little "oomph" and I do miss my carbs.  So hopefully instead of six shrimp on a plate with a tbsp of pesto, I could do five shrimp with a couple of noodles and a tbsp of pesto.  We shall see.  I think you should tell your new team that you WANT them to tell it how it is.  I definitely don't have that issue - our main nutiritionist is the least smiley Eastern European in the world.  No chances of sugar coating lol.  I have my eight week post-op appt on Tuesday next week.  I have to get her to comment on my calories.  She just says "get your protein" but I need a calorie number or I fear I will overeat!

B1-1/2 c cottage cheese, peaches and 1 slice of raisn toast with butter and apple butter

B2-grilled chicken breast (5 oz) and 1/2 banana

L-going out-Mexican-will eat chips and salsa and cheese dip, and maybe a taco

S-Chobani

D-spaghetti and meat sauce (homemade) about 1/2 cup of each and a small salad

Dessert-Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich or a Healthy Choice frozen yogurt cup or watermelon slices....not sure what I'll want

Exercise:  I'll either run or do yoga-again, not sure which one I'll be in the mood for (normally run would win, but it will have to be on the treadmill and I don't like that as much as outside)

I hateeeee running on the treadmill. When I was doing a mile, mile and a half it was fine, but now that I'm doing 5k+ I have to run outside

Awesome menu, five years out.  Also awesome that exercise is now a mainstay.  I am staying away from desserts until maintenance (I can have something sweet in a protein shake if I crave it but I haven't yet) but I do loooove the skinny cow ice cream sandwiches!

Ok, you guys, I tried the noodles yesterday and thought they were horrific!  They had almost a fishy smell and taste.  The texture was weird like plastic.  I made them to have with a meat marinara.  Am I missing something??  They were so bad that they emotionally scarred me. . . repulsive!!!

DCGirl, I love your posts.  You are always so positive!  The menu posts are my favorite to read on this site everyday.  I really like to see what people are eating.

ewww.... would you say they were almost like gummy bears?  That's what I am imagining.  Did you boil them, or just warm them with the sauce?  Did you wash them first?
