What's on the menu today, RNY-ers?

You are so sweet!  I also love reading the menus, and I am so glad that others feel the same.  It keeps me motivated, on track, and energized.  Seriously, without this forum I would drive my non-WLS friends and family obsessing about my meal planning and my protein and my stats in MyFitnessPal and nobody wants to hear it :)  I love to see what others are eating, and I love to see what my diet might look like in a year or more.  I mean, I read that someone had banana and honey and it's like "Oh?  One day I might have that?".  Right now it's lean protein all the way.  My mom (who I am visiting) just made me bacon and hard-boiled eggs and bought me those tofu noodles - I am 36 years old but she still likes "taking care of me".  It's very sweet.  I have read that the noodles need to be THOROUGHLY washed and some people boil them for a minute or two.  I hope to hide the smell and texture with a sauce and protein.  I pray they do the trick!  Noodles are what I miss most...hands down...

Keep reading and posting :)  Em

Even though I am a VSGer, I like to come here too to get ideas.  Hope you guys don't mind my prying eyes.  It helps keep me on track as well. I bounce around a lot, but like the fact that DCgirl took the initiative to start the same thread hear for the RNYers.  Good luck all!

Of course!!! I also read the VSG board for support/ideas/inspiration. We may have had slightly different procedures but the fact remains that we all wanted to lose weight and have a great tool in place to accompany our hard work and dedication :) Please come post any and everyday!

I've tried the shirataki, and they were revolting. No amount of rinsing or cooking hid the taste or the awful texture. For my money, I'd rather go with spaghetti squash or noodle-ized (it is so a word, I just made it up!) zucchini when I'm craving pasta!

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday got a little messed up because I was in a meeting from 1 - 6pm and then dragged to a dinner.  I did ok, but my protein ended up low.  So today:

B - Chike

L - thai basil chicken (the end of it)

S - yogurt & veg salad (I will be traveling 2 hr drive + 2 hr flight, so this will be spread out)

D - slow cook buffalo chicken w/ pea pods

S - shake (maybe)

E - lift & run - if I can drag myself to the gym late tonight when I get home

V - check

W - 3/8 on my way

woops - I had VSG - sorry wrong forum!

Hey Stacy - you're always welcome on the RNY forum :)  Although I know the VSG forum has it's own menu thread.  That is what inspired me actually!  I love seeing what's on the menu.  Your daily menu sounds delicious.  Thai basil chicken is a fave of mine.  And I totally hear you on the all-day meeting followed by a work dinner.  It can be tough!

11 months out

breakfast: 1 small banana & blueberries drizzled with honey

snack: 2 slices sourdough toast w/ blackberry jam (I know I know, not an awesome choice but I'm really into the toast thing the past week, I'm blaming it on it being that time of the month)

lunch: strawberry peanut butter protein shake, taking it on the run so I can get my errands done

snack: probably some deli turkey

dinner: Brunswick stew

Since 6:30 this morning--dry heaves! I threw up my morning tea and have not kept even an ounce of liquid in since then. I have been overtaken by the stomach virus that has gone through my house and office. I KNEW I should have said no to the in person meeting on Monday. Ack. It is ugly here.

On the flip side after a particularly tortuous bathroom session with both a bucket and commode in full use, I weighed myself and am 7 lbs lighter than I was Monday (or last night at group) but of course that just means I was (as has been speculated from time to time) full of **** and dehydrated as well. Good times, good times. I've been on mute for most of my calls today and the minute my last call ends at 3p, I am taking to the bed.

I need someone to sing me soft kitty!

PetHairMagnet - you crack me up!  I also was kind of excited after I had norovirus last fall lol.  I lost about the same...and 7.5 weeks out of surgery, I COMPLETELY understand when you say you are full of ****  Cuz I am too.  I am not used to this high protein livin', and I am clearly short on fiber :)  I think we all suffer this here on the site so you're among friends :)

Good luck on keeping liquids down...it's obviously not good if you get dehydrated but throwing up tea must mean you have some kind of virus in there :(  I will be sending positive thoughts your way and hopefully later today you can keep something down.  I surely know sugary, carbonated drinks are not on my plan, but if I were in your place I would try a few sips of ginger ale or diet ginger ale to see if the ginger calmed my stomach.

Thinking of you!

Thanks, I do appreciate it! :) I actually sucked on a piece of ginger for a while after laying down and then tried some tepid tea and that has stayed down. Then about an hour ago I tried 5 oz of Isopure RTD and it is staying down, Ill try another 5 oz. before bed. Let's hope tomorrow morning dawns a bit more solid than today! ;)
