OK Yuk, I just blew it
Well, after a full year of staying on track and really about no deviation from eating on my plan, today I blew it and allowed myself to eat a four or five pieces of homemade Valentine candy I got at work. Totally heavenly chocolate covered caramel, all homemade deliciousness. This after literally no sugar for a year and feeling like I could go like that forever. Besides the fact that I'm bummed that I fell off the wagon (and have jumped right back on it), I am now dealing with some pretty bad shakes and know that I have a headache coming my way tomorrow while I detox from it. I really need a swift kick but I guess that I won't be repeating this mistake. You know that saying that nothing tastes as good and being slim feels ~ Yep, that's about right :) So I hope that drinking a lot of plain water will get this out of my system quickly...anyone have any better ideas for dealing with the aftermath?
No advice on what you can do to lessen the hang over, but congrats on getting back on track and sharing. It is good for all of us to remember we are ALL capable of stumbling and falling. Tomorrow is a new day and I hope that it is filled with good choices and grace. I am not in the position to spank, but sending you a hug.
I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. I don't think eating four or five pieces of candy after a whole year of no candy or sweets is "totally blowing it." It's not like it wipes out all those days and weeks of sticking to your plan perfectly.
Just make a plan for how you'll deal with this issue in the future. What will you do if someone brings in yummy homemade Easter candy? Just say no? Eat just one piece instead of four or five? Fix yourself a healthy treat instead?

Susan! You SO did not blow it! Staying on plan and losing over 100 lbs in one year is a massive success!!! You slipped up, you realized it wasn't good and you have readjusted to her back on plan and keep on keepin' on! Please don't be so hard on yourself. Have you read all the posts here of people saying "I have been eating tons of carbs and so many calories since the holidays and I don't know what to do!"? You had some candy and now you will detox from the sugar tomorrow. Some people would argue that as close as you are to your goal weight, a slip-up is actually allowed. But you know what you need to do to reach your goals and I have every confidence in you that you will!
You didn't blow it, far from it! You had a moment, that's all. Unfortunately it only takes a moment to slip up, but that's all it was, a little hiccup on your journey. The important thing is that you know what happened and you're committed to getting back to the good habits that have served you well so far. Good for you!
Regarding the sugar hangover, I can't give much specific advice, but I'd imagine drinking a lot of water and exercising as much as you feel comfortable would help some.
I hope you feel better soon, both in mind and body. Good luck!

You need to realize it is not that big a deal. Forgive yourself and move on. If you dwell on it, the negativity will bring you down and you may binge. It's a vicious cycle. The mental part is the hardest. It you cannot learn to forgive yourself, getting to goal and staying there will be impossible.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

You didn't blow it.Blowing it is if you didn't stop and kept gorging on food. You stopped and went back to your plan. That is great that you did that. Sometimes we beat the crap out of ourselves and we keep eating regardless of how crappy we feel.
You know you can't eat that much candy again without feeling sick.I think going and laying down will help.
Susan, you're doing great! One of my goals in this journey was to be more like a normal person. Well, guess what? Even a normal, skinny person might have a piece of chocolate on Valentine's Day. Just make sure next year that you don't eat so much that you get sick. Hope you feel better soon!
