What's on the menu today, RNY-ers?

It sounds like a good day, and your menu sounds delicious!  I am working from home today so I am skipping the coffee.  I ordered some of the free Quest bars through a link someone posted a couple of weeks ago.  I haven't tried them yet, but I am curious about them.  They  have too many carbs for me, so I won't make it a habit, but in case of emergency, might as well have them on hand!

Hey DCgirl - sorry to hear about the trouble with brussell sprouts, I know you were looking forward to adding them back. Don't give up on them. The few times I had the foamies a cup of crushed ice chips helped. I know it isn't a remedy for everyone but it helped me. Good luck at the training session - you know how murphy's law works right - you feel yucky today (from the foamies), have no clothes that fit in your size (oops, I've done it already also) , and get yourself to the training session and WHAM you'll meet your prince charming. LOL - Good luck at the training session.

Hey Debb!  Thanks for being so positive!  Didn't meet Prince Charming at the gym, but my workout was intense and awesome!  I feel great.  One bad date, some brussels sprouts foamies, and no jeans...I can deal :)  I will perservere for sure.  Your menu looks delish!  What kind of turkey jerky do you eat?

Excuse my butting into your reply... I use Jack links turkey jerky, it is awesome.  I get huge bag at Sams Club.  Oh, and I only got foamies 3-4 times total in the first year and none since.

Hey Ceithlenn!  I was TOTALLY thinking of you in my 25 minute training session.  I think you do hour long sessions and I was like HOWWWWW DOES SHE DO IT?  I know it will get easier (or I hope?).  You are moving south from WI?  Where are you moving?  Somewhere warmer I assume :)  90 g of protein is amazing.  I seem to end up around 70 usually.  I have to do better.  I guess two protein shakes a day would do it.  I just prefer food.  But I can suck it up and do shakes!  I hope your weather gets better - I know you had snow, snow, snow and then sleet and then rain and winds...we even have a tornado advisory in DC today.  Crazy ass weather!

25 mins is an amazing start, the training does get more tolerable not exactly easier. Like yesterday when I cried walking down the stair because I thought my quads might split in half lol but today I am like yep they feel better.

I am moving down to Phoenix so warmer weather is around the corner then Ill complain about the heat this summer.

I enjoy doing 2 shakes a day now that I can make the hot chocolate protein, but thats because I am supposed to eat 5 small meals and I get bored of food. I know you are not supposed to do snacks on yours.

Stay safe in DC and hopefully better weather soon.

Totally chaotic day today at home with four kids under the age of six and my (really) wacky mother.  Wish me luck!  Oh, I am 17 months out:

B:  2/3 cup black beans with cheddar cheese and salsa, one carrot, wanted something crunchy!

L:  1 1/2 scrambled egg, 1 slice bacon

S:  1 small cupcake with frosting (the activity of the day was throwing a huge and involved birthday party for my three year old's dolly, I don't normally eat cupcakes but I decided to have one today, let me tell you, this dolly had a heck of a birthday )

S:  protein shake, milk, vanilla powder, blueberries

D:  hmm, something heavy with veggies and protein, maybe meatloaf and sauteed shredded celeriac with shallots and green beans or maybe shrimp ****tail with braised cabbage.  I will have to see.

Optional S:  Maybe cheese and nut thins or yogurt

OMG if I were at home with four little kids AND my mom, I think I would eat 24 cupcakes ;)  Ha ha in all seriousness, it sounds like a handful.  I bet you get a lot of steps in!  Do you wear a FitBit?  I bet you are running all over the place.  LOL @dolly's heck of a birthday!

I made a protein shake with unsweetened almond milk, vanilla powder, and 1/2 cup of frozen strawberries.  It was pretty decent!  Enjoy your dinner - both options sound awesome!

My husband was off work this morning so I skipped the gym to spend some quality time sleeping in together.  (we dropped the kids off at school and then went back to bed.  Totally worth it.)  Since we slept late I combined breakfast and lunch.

Brunch/egg white omelet with Portobello mushrooms, red pepper, onions, and spinach.  It was supposed to have Havarti with Dill as well, but I couldn't taste it.

Snack:  greek yogurt

Dinner: not sure yet.  I am taking my 13 year old and her friend to dinner.  She wants firehouse subs.  I used to love it pre-op, but there is nothing healthy there.  One of their subs has close to 1000 calories.  I got chili last time.  It was really good, but it had more fat than I am used to eating and  upset my stomach a little.   I think I will bribe her with the bookstore.  If we eat close to Barnes and Noble I will let them run in for a few minutes.  Gotta love it when you can bribe your kids with books.
