What do you have and how have you been preparing them? How exactly are they making you sick?

Many of us had problems with protein supplements. I had several on hand to try. And, I wasted $$$ before I found some I could tolerate. I had to push through not wanting it, gagging, nausea, etc. I put ice cubes in my liquid protein so it would be really cold. I put the drink in a cup with a lid (smell bothered me) and used a straw so my lips didn't touch the drink. I took small sips - you could also use a child's sippy cup. You can try the protein room temp or warm. We are all different and your taste changes so often the first few month.
If you are mixing protein powder - it may be milk that bothers you (even if it didn't pre-op). Try using water, almond, coconut or soy milk. You just have to keep experimenting.
vitalady.com offers sample packs of a variety of protein powders and that can save you $$$ by not buying a big container. I find buying from the internet offers me the biggest selection. I buy from Amazon and netrition.com
Just keep trying - there is no choice - you have to have it. Penny
You didn't mention what you'd been drinking that makes you sick. Many of us drink Isopure protein drinks from GNC and other places that carry it. I like the grape best. It is not a shake. It's like Gatorade in fluidity. zero carbs, 40g's Protein, 160 cal. There are many flavors and you are likely to find several you like. You can drink from the bottle or pour over ice. Pretty refreshing I find.
Sorry I have been using benefiber unflavored. And body fortress vanilla cream
i mix with almond milk or cold water
nut says I need 30g of protein per shake but only 4oz of liquid.
I use a shaker bottle so I can't smell it. I am gagging when I drink them. I sip 20 minute gag.
To get 30 grams of liquid in just four ounces of liquid, your shake will be really thick. I would not like a shake that way. I use eight to ten ounces of liquid in my shake.
Try some other brands. If you've only tried two brands, well, let's just say I probably tried two dozen before finding some I liked. Go to vitalady.com and order a bunch of samples. Try the Syntrax Nectar ones, many people like those. But try others, too. You might also want to go to unjury.com and order some of those samples, especially the chicken soup one. Another brand many people like is Chike. Go to chikenutrition.com for samples of those.
Do you like coffee? If you do, try putting eight or ten ounces of almond or soy milk, a scoop of your vanilla protein powder, and a spoonful of instant decaf coffee crystals in a shake cup and shake well. Or put four to six ounces of almond or soy milk, the protein powder and instant coffee in a blender, blend well, then add a handful of ice and blend some more.

This is what I do every morning ... YMMV ... I use ice cold water ( I put my 8 oz of water in a shaker bottle into the freezer at work for 2 hrs ahead of time to slightly freeze it ), with 2 scoops Chike vanilla (or 1 vanilla, 1 chocolate), then a splash of Torini SF flavor such as Praline or Gingerbread or whatever (I have 13 bottles!!). Add 1/4 scoop of pbutter2 dried peanut butter and sometimes a tablespoon of Greek Yogurt). And usually a Tbls or so of Chia seeds. Blend it up and it's quite delicious, giving me a good protein amount in the morning to start my day.
I always enjoy it and like knowing that I have my day off to a good start :)
Your surgery was 17 days ago. How long are you on liquids? I was for 3 weeks. After week #3 I never drank another protein shake - as I think they are all nasty. I spent hundreds of dollars trying to find something worth drinking. Luckily my BFF had surgery and I passed it all onto her. I did figure out they were tolerable if I put fruit or PB2 or other random flavorings ... but that was more calories; so I would rather just eat. You absolutely can get your protein in without shakes once you are cleared for food.
My advice... choke it down until you are cleared and then do food.
Good luck.

I add 1/2 scoop chocolate truffle powder made by Syntrax into my cup of decaf coffee. (make sure the temp isn't over 130 degrees or it will curdle) Yum Yum!
What did your NUT say when you expressed the difficulty
you are having drink the shakes. I definitely couldn't do just 4 oz, the texture wouldnt work for me. I use Unjury vanilla and chocolate and chicken soup. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time
