Constapated
Sounds like you need more of a laxative. Did the surgeon give you a list of meds that you can take as needed. My md told me for occasional constipation to take milk of magnesium. It worked for me, but should check with md to see what he wants you to take. And as DC girl stated, miralax is popular. It works differently and takes a couple of days to work, but doesn't give you diarrhea, but works well![]()
I'm a regular user of peri colace daily since my hysterectomy 5 years back. Post RNY on 3/25/14, that wasn't enough, so my surgeon upped me to peri colace twice a day and milk of magnesia as needed if I don't have bm for two days. I'm happy to say the MOM did the trick today after three days without any action!

Hi,
Right when I got out of the hospital I was prescribed two Colace and two Senokot daily for a month. Worked great, almost too good. Now that I am 5 months post op I eat four Sunsweet prunes daily and its key to drink a ton of water to keep the bowels moving nicely, i.e. soft and smooth ![]()
Hope you find some relief.

I take Miralax and colace daily. Both are safe to use daily. Be careful of frequent use of stimulant laxatives. It causes dependency and can actually change bowel function.
Also, some fiber laxatives have to be taken 2 hrs before or after medication. Read the label.
