Most people have no serious complications. However, most serious complications are not caused by eating too fast or not chewing well enough or by going off your plan. For instance, leaks, strictures, pneumonia, often blood clots and ulcers, are not caused by anything you do or don't do. And most people have some pain after major surgery no matter how closely they follow their plan.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
14 months out, no pains, no discomfort and I 'follow the rules' :) As for the gall bladder issue, I already had mine out when I lost a lot of weight before - but if I'd still had it my surgeon would have removed it when he did the RNY to avoid a second surgery since it is so common for WLS folks to need it out.
