How many RNY folks out there can testify to having "no complications" to speak of?  In other words, if we eat slowly, chew chew chew our food, stay within our plan -- can go WITHOUT having pain & discomfort -- or any of the more severe complications?

I have only just had my surgery 7 days ago but this surgery has not really been unlike any other surgery .The only thing i'm having problems with now is that i'm not having BM and it hurts from that. Ive taken milk of mag. for 2 days with stool softners but still nothing. The first few days stink but you do get better everyday.

I am only 4.5 months out, but so far, I have no complications. Little things to whine about, but nothing big.

Those that are 3+ years out with no complications are seldom coming to the Obesity Help site anymore - they have moved on.

I'm 5 years post RNY.  I come back to OH every few months to be accountable and remember that I'm a RNY patient - always.  I do have reactive hypoglycemia (began in 2011), nausea daily and one bowel obstruction.  None of these things cause me to regret my RNY.  I reached my goal and work hard to stay at or below goal.  I don't consider foamies or vomiting as complications.

Best wishes, Penny

A little over 3 months out and no complications. I think most people do well.  I still read this site religiously though.

I am 14 weeks out and (knock on wood) no complications.  Foamies are usually caused by user-error.  I have had two occasions of this -- and learned to SLOW down -- so I don't consider that a complication.  I do want to add that I think a lot of complications are NOT caused by not-following the rules, etc -- but just random luck of the draw.  :-)
