Thanks Em for the link to bariatric pantry, I will check it out. Yes one downfall of being in Canada we don't have access to all the goodies and places you guys do in the US. Oh well. Yes we are going to NYC but not until Sept. I have copied your post and saved it in my "all things Bariatric" folder so I can reference when the time comes. Sounds like amazing places you went too!! Now hubby and I are going to Boston and Martha's Vineyard this summer so if you have travelled there and have any suggestions on restaurants and places to go, first time for me being there, I welcome them!!
Thank you for the compliment! You know just the fact that food does not control me any more is such a huge accomplishment for me. I control food now and notice how when I am out with other people in a restaurant (was out on Sat night with friends at a restaurant) how much other people eat and how friggin huge the portion sizes are. Now pre surgery I ate it all and then some but now with having half to 3/4 of the entrée being taken home is great, multiple meals out of one purchase!
I have to ask you all a question... is anyone else struggling with your hot food getting so cold by the time you finish? For example, I bbq some chicken breast and veggies. I eat the chicken first, slow and chew, chew, chew. By the time I finish my 4 oz of chicken its cold and the veggies are pretty much gross they are so cold! I am a bit frustrated by that. Its not a big deal by any means but I like my food hot and so having to chew, chew, chew and I put my fork down in between bites, so out of a cup or 3/4 of a cup of food by the time I get to the end of its all cold. Oh well... just an observation. Maybe I will start eating more "cold" food like egg salad or chicken salad LOL
Daisy! I was JUST thinking about this "problem" this morning as I was finishing my by-then-cold Cream of Wheat!
I haven't quite figure out the solution - but so far my strategy is to cook things in two parts (this morning I ate my 2oz of greek yogurt then cooked my Cream of Wheat). I don't know your situation, but I'm single, so since I'm just preparing food for just me, this process a little easier.

Hope everyone had a great Easter. I managed to bake cookies and yeast rolls and not indulge in either. I did plan for a quarter of a roll with my dinner and it was delicious. A few years ago I would have eaten three rolls by myself! So on to today.B 1/2c steel cut oats with nuts and 1/2 banana with peanut butter L 1/2 c chicken salad and 1/2 c Greek yogurt S apple with peanut butter D 31/2 oz pork chop and 1/2 c baked beans S 3/4 c Greek yogurt with nuts. On track with vitamins and fluids. Exercise bike for 20 minutes as hard and fast as I can. Will do 30 minutes on treadmill(2.113 miles) after lunch and crunches before bed. Have a good Monday everyone!
Refraining from eating homemade yeast rolls! OOHH! What temptation! You did wonderful by only eating a portion! LOL!
“Let someone love you just the way you are – as flawed as you might be, as unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as unaccomplished as you think you are. To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.”― Marc Hack

Yay NYC! I was there Tuesday-Thursday :D I hope you had warmer weather than I did.
I also walked FOREVER. It was amazing. And I was able to do it which was even more amazing! (Although, between you and me, I think we've got a better city.) ;)

Awwww Gwen - the weather was perfect - I know it rained like hell earlier in the week though! I did see your post about your trip and it sounds like we had the same trip - walking, walking, eating, walking :) I have to say, I love NYC more than DC! But DC is much more livable - I always say I would only live in NY if I made a looooooot of money! Maybe the grass is always greener, and I am really settled into my life here so NYC seems exciting! But yes, it felt great to be able to walk 7 miles without batting an eye. I have always been active but in the last year or so I was having knee pain so I think being able to be active without pain is the biggest NSV for me and even if I didn't lose another pound (which I WILL LOSE MORE) I would still be ecstatic and say RNY was worth it!
I think NYC is an awesome place to visit, but I'd prefer to live in DC. I like the shortness of the city ;) None of those super tall buildings everywhere!
You rock for all that walking and for rocking your RNY :D

I have not tried the Syntrax matrix, but the mint cookie sounds really yummy! I love the syntrax nectar in lemon iced tea and fuzzy navel yum!. I have tried several other brands of dry protein and I have not found one I love. I think I will give the matrix a try.
For keeping my food warm, I use a thermos. I have a small metal thermos, I pre heat it with some boiling watet, pour out the water and put in the hot food. I take out 1 bite at a time. It does Aaron good job keeping my meal warm while I wait 5 minutes between bites.
I forgot to add... I think my 3 week stall may be over! Woo hoo! The scale was down .5 yesterday and .5 this morning. Now I am officially down 61 lbs.
