Reactive hypoglycemia.

Does it happen a few hours after you have eaten sugar or carbohydrates?

Try eating smaller meals, no more than three hours apart with protein.

No problem! I think I am dealing with it too.... it usually starts when we are farther out.

I have had 2 episodes. Both following meals with too many carbs and not enough protein :(

What she is refering to and dumping are two different things.   There are some other more extreme side affects to dumping.

I agree with this. Over the last two months I've had three episodes of it. I've finally started having five small meals a day and it really seems to be helping. I also make sure to keep a little bit of food with me at all times (Almonds, cheese, rice cakes) just in case.

Hi,

I agree that this sounds like reactive hypoglycemia.  I was diagnosed with thisa few years ago after several very scary episodes!  I ended up being referred to an endocrinologist for this and now check and track my blood sugars. I am aware of the feelings of in coming on so I can immediately check it and drink an orange juice.  My blood sugar has gone as low as in the 30's at which time I am incoherent, sweating profusely ,extreme rapid hearbeat and shaking.  Please keep this in check and follow thru it can be very serious. And please keep glucose tabs ( I need 2-3-4 at a time) or OJ on hand. Good luck!!
