4 months post op food question
I still can't stomach lettuce and I would love, love, love to have a small salad or shredded lettuce in a slice of lunch meat but I still can't handle it. My stomache is soo finicky. I would love cabbage also but don't dare. Have any of you had certain foods you just can't stomache like this?
thank you in advance
I am 6 years out. There is too many foods I don't tolerate .
Some I could not tolerate iin the beginning but was able to later on, some foods I was eating but slowly developed allergies to them or intolerance.
I used to eat lettuce, cabbage, etc.....now - not so much. My body can't properly digest it and that cause problems 2-12-24 hours after eating... {Indigestion, gas, more gas - pain, etc)

So far I have not found any food that I cannot tolerate, but there are foods that do not taste the same.
Shrimp was never a huge part of my diet, but I did eat it on occasion, now I just do not like the taste of it. I have tried shrimp at a couple of different places and even on the coast and I just did not care for it.
Some things are too sweet for me now. I still cannot even stomach the idea of drinking the chocolate protein shakes. Just the thought makes me gag. Even the much less sweet isopure gatorade type protein drinks are much sweeter than before.
It could be something that changes in the future, but it if does not work, then try something different.
there are some things I know as soon as they hit my mouth are not going to work. Its usually a form of fatty ground meat. I do okay with regular burgers or ground beef but if I try anything(like a johnsonville griller) that has bacon or sausage or some other fatty grund meat mixed in I cant even swallow it!

I can't eat lettuce either. That and McDonalds sausage are the only 2 things I can't tolerate so far. I have tried a couple times thinking I just needed to wait a little longer but, no. My pouch has made it's intentions clear where those two items are concerned! My doctor's office said Butter lettuce may go down easier but I haven't tried it.
I don't do well with most raw vegetable and fruit, the crunchy ones anyway such as carrots and apples. I am able to eat lettuce although it did take some time, so try, try again.
I cannot eat fatty foods like bacon and sausage either, nor can I eat rice well or bread, but I think the bread is more a choice than an intolerance.
Good luck!
i dont stomach salad too well, but i try to eat stuff that would be in a salad to compensate LOL. That early out i would get like 2-3 ounces of grilled chicken, a few beets, cucumbers, chick peas, and maybe olives and call it a salad. Lettuce fills me up. Give it some time and maybe try again in a few months.
Ice cream KILLS me. That used to be my favorite. 2 licks and im done. Also, peanut butter I cannot handle at all. I can handle most things, its just a matter of how fast they fill me up.
Bummer. Well try again in a few months... it changes. One of my worst "stuck" foods in the first few months were shrimp. I was so sad... nice protein, easy, yummy. I gave up for a few months and gave it another try and it was fine.
Hope it will be the same for you.
I could eat most anything from 1 year on... still have issues with dry meats (avoid, I dip everything in Greek Yogurt based homemade dips, etc), pork chops are not a fav usually too dry, broccoli unless chopped fine... so eh not missing much.
I choose not to eat a handful of things but I dare say I could eat all of them LOL that's why I choose not too ;)
