I have been taking 5000mg a day, would it make a difference to increase to 10,000 a day? My hair is thin and I'm still losing some but I also have Hypothyroidism, had thin hair before surgery but I was hoping biotin would help a little.

Most likely not.  Your hair loss is most likely not due to biotin deficiency, which is very rare.  Unless biotin deficiency is causing your hair loss, taking more biotin won't help.  Your hair loss if probably due to telogen effluvium, which is a result of major surgery.  It usually lasts about three or four months, then resolves on its own.  If it's caused by hypothyroidism, biotin is not going to fix that.

Do not increase the biotin.  You are risking growing facial hair with it and it will not improve the hair that you have now.

Find a great stylist and get a haircut that will make your hair look fuller.  Color and highlights will help too.  The old long hair that you have now is never going to catch up with the new regrowth that will come in a few months.  Keep your hair short and layered so it will look its best.

A layered cut will add fullness.  The right cut will balance your face and body.  Have the stylist recommend products and techniques to help you get a great look at home.

Post some pictures of your new look.

My hair was thin before surgery too. I have been praying that I would not lose hair but I have lost some. I have been taking biotin also. It has made my fingernails incredibly strong but hasn't helped my hair loss so far. I started wearing wide headbands that I made from a pattern on Pinterest to cover up where my hair is thinnest, on top and on the sides. The headbands are cute and I got a very short spikey haircut which my friends say helps made it look fuller in the back.  I just have to do what I can with what I have and pray for thick hair to come.  It is all worth it for the weight loss success.
