I suggest not using chelated iron, since it's mostly or completely absorbed in the duodenum, which has been mostly or completely bypassed in RNY folks.  But if you do use it, one tablet has 85 mg elemental iron, which is not much more than you were taking before, so you'd probably want to take more than one.

I'm glad it's working for you and if it is, I'd keep taking it.  If I was considering all the available iron supplements, though, I would not pick one that is mostly absorbed in the part of my intestine that has been bypassed.  Even if it has worked well for you, I would think another supplement, that is absorbed in the non-bypassed part of the intestine, would be more likely to work for me.

I understand and everyone's body works differently. I will do some research on the one you mentioned, thank you. I also drink Life's Basics plant based protein with greens shake/smoothie. It has 23g of protein. I think it delicious and good for our body. They sell it at health food stores or online. What do you drink for protein?

I've been using Hema-plex for over 10 yrs and my iron is wonderful. I had my RNY in 2001.

You say you had your surgery 13 years ago, but you just joined OH two days ago. And all of your posts have been about Hema-Plex. Curious.

Not all my post are about Hema-plex. And yes I had my RNY 13 yrs ago. However,  I'm not always on my computer but I happened to google a question about RNY Revision" and came across this website. I'm sorry but I didn't know about it sooner. Wish I had. I don't sell the product, just sharing info on it when asked. I think ppl can appreciate it and that's what this site it for, right, to share info? So please don't assume anything. Be nice and have a blessed New Year.

We get a lot of posts exactly like yours. Brand new accounts, and a bunch of posts pushing one specific product. It happens far too often.

I hope you stick around and participate.
