Are these slider foods?

Ok Gang.  I am cleaning out the fridge before the honeymoon.  For the past three days, I have had meal which is either a) cucumber coins + hummus, b) cucumber coins + tazahiki and c) orange pepper and hummus.

ORDINARILY, I eat these as a side to a meat...however, I am not cooking before I go on vacay. Defeats the purpose of cleaning out the fridge.

When I eat these on their own, I get hungry within 2 hours. I am starting to wonder if they are "slider foods" due to their water content and/or creamy texture.

No need ot comment about the lack of SOLID protien. I am well aware I dont have one, it is a choice I made for ONE meal per day for 3 days..jsut to clean out the fridge.

Thanks

To be honest, I do the same thing every once in awhile when I don't feel like cooking.  I stopped using hummus though, and I make a greek yogurt dip (so a fage 2% greek yogurt and then a packet of ranch seasoning).  It's still not awesome protein, but it ups my numbers some.  I don't feel bad about it all.  Sometimes you just don't want to cook, and a year ago I would have been at the taco bell drive thru.  Now my lazy meals are cucumbers and bell peppers, I'd say that progress :)  Plus, I don't eat a ton of either b/c they do fill me up, whereas a more traditional slider food like popcorn I can eat and eat and never get full.  That's my 2cents, but I don't think of them as slider foods....

Have fun on your honeymoon!

This is the first I have ever heard of "slider foods"?  What are they and why are they called that.

"slide" straight through with 0 nutritional value.

slider food can and often do have nutritional values. i.e. protein shake, yogurt, soups (i.e. eggs drop soup, bean soups, etc).

just because they "slide out of the pouch" - don't stay in the pouch very long;  does not make them "0" nutrition..

I don't think peppers are slider foods, but what do I know?  I bring similar snacks to work and I'm hungry every hour.

Is the hummus not made from beans? Don't that have protein? I would eat more of the Hummus and that might help with the hunger.

The soft nature of Hummus may make it more on the slider side of things. While I love it, it doesn't really have a lot of protein in it. If you have some unflavored protein powder maybe mix some in. I love tzatziki too, again maybe mix in some protein powder to amp it up. Might help. Do you have any protein bars hanging around? They might be more solid and help with the hunger.
