Hello,  I had gastric bypass in 2007 at 288 lbs. By the end of 2008 I had lost 141 lbs. On Dec 2014 I went to my docotr for a cold and was put on the scale.... 242 lbs.  I was devastated. I knew I had gained because I was once again wearing plus size clothing and after a couple miscarriages and 1 full term pregnancy, I had just stopped watching what I ate but wow seeing that number was a shocker. So right then and there I set a date. I decided I was going to take control of my life again. In Jan 2015 I went to get an endoscopy and to my surprise my pouch hasn't stretched at all after all the over eating abuse.  I brought a Fitbit, food scale, joined MFP, ordered my protein shakes, vitamins and went food shopping. I started my new healthy journey Jan 5th. So far I have lost 12 lbs.  I remain focused even when at times my vision gets hazy, but I have a goal to accomplish. I decided to get this tool back in 2007 for a reason, I am not going to allow myself to get comfortable and forget why I went thru the surgery and recovery. I did all that to save my life. So Once again I am on that very same path.

Good for you to take control and get healthy again.  My surgery was in 2008.  I have regained about 12 lbs. and I'm working to take those off.  The thought of shopping in the plus size department makes me cringe.  I swore I wound not have any "Xs" in my closet, but I do have a few things.  I tell myself they are made skimpy.  My favorite dress slacks are too tight.  These have zippers and a waistband so no stretching.  My goal is to get back in them.

You are doing great.  Keep it up!!

Thank you!! Yes stepping into those plus size stores was not pretty for me after shopping in the juniors section for a while lol. Once I lost all my weight I happily gave away all my big clothes, so I literally had none and had to buy as I gained.  We did it once we can definitely do it again.  Good luck on your journey!!!

You ladies both have got this! Take it one step at a time and one choice at a time. Put yourself first and remember how you felt at that lowest weight and why you did this in the first place. And keep coming here for accountability. Check out the what's on your plate thread. We share food ideas, advice, and keep each other on track.

Good for you for taking control again.  The one thing you did not mention was whether you are weighing yourself.  I found daily weighing to be the only way for me to stay out of denial and to keep from regain.  If you are going to lose the entire 94 pounds of regain, then you need to realize that it might take close to two years.

The good thing is that you will be lower every week.  Don't give up and don't take dieting breaks.  Yep, this is a diet.  The malabsorption from the surgery is long gone and you will only lose the weight by reducing calories.

Hi, I do weigh myself once a week. I tried the daily weighing but found myself getting depressed with the up and downs of the numbers. So the once a week is much better. I do keep a chart at home as well as online where I log my weight each week. I also weigh and log what I eat, regardless what it is. I hear about ppl having cheat days. I have decided I will not have cheat days. I want to make this a lifestyle so I have to discipline myself to eat clean and correct everyday. I am under the care of a Dietitian who specifically works with WLS patients. I have read up on calories in vs calories out and for the first time a light bulb went off, it actually makes sense to me now. I also make sure I have a caloric deficit each day in order to lose the weight and so far so good.  Thx for the all encouragement!

mamabrie Hi, yes I do know about the 5 day pouch test. http://www.5daypouchtest.com/plan/days1_2.html

The first thing I did was go online and buy a Fitbit, a food scale, Walk it off in 30 days dvd, and Zumba. Then I downloaded the MFP app to log my food. I also made myself a binder to manually log my daily calories in/calories out and weight. Then I went shopping for protein drinks and lots of protein filled foods. Once I receive the Fitbit I set it up syced it to MFP and got moving.  The first day I logged my food intake calories and made sure to not go over 1200(now I'm eating around 800-1000). I only did about 5000 steps but the next day I made it my daily goal to reach 10,000. When I achieved that I raised it to 10,500. The most I've reached is 15,000 steps a day. But my goal is still at 10,500 steps a day. I am excersizing 5xs a week. Mon, Wed, Fri I do the C25k 30 min app(which is a walking and jogging app) and Tues, Thurs I do 30 minutes of walking with a dvd. Or if I'm up to it I will pop in a zumba dvd. Sat n Sun I rest. Hope this helps you give you some idea. You can start little by little So it doesn't seem overwhelming.  Start by eating your proteins first no drinking water for 30 min after eating. Or you can do the 5 day pouch test. I couldn't go back to only liquids so I didn't do the test. Plus I always felt my pouch working I just learned how to cheat it. Good luck and feel free to friend me.
