My sister in Law is getting married October 3, we are shopping And suppose to buy our bridesmaids dresses on May 3rd..in order to have them in time)  .my surgery is April 1st.  I am a size 22...any ideas on how to know or predict what my approximate size will be in October????  I know I can buy and they can alter a dress down by 1-2 sizes..

I just had to guesstimate a wedding dress for myself. I ordered two sizes smaller than what I tried on. Be sure to save for alterations and find a good tailor.

Well in 6 months I went from a size 18 to 8.  But there is wide variation and the upper sizes take a lot longer to go through.  For instance, it took me forever to go from 18 to 16 to 14.  Then I skipped 12, and went to 10 then 8 like a month later.  I think you would be safe at an 18 and will probably have to take it in quite a bit.  I'm not really sure though, that's just a guess.  I'm curious what others will say.  Best of luck to you!

I agree - Go with an 18 especially since all wedding garb is sized smaller than "normal" sizes.  When I got married in 1995, I was a solid size 14 petite in regular dresses and I had to purchase a size 18 and have it altered.  Really???  It's a conspiracy.

Whatever size they tell you you are, I would order down 3 sizes. I went from a size 28 jeans to an 18 in 6 months and a size 3x to an XL. You don't want to go overboard, because everyone is different, but you don't want it so big the alterations cost an arm and a leg. But start with the size they tell you they would order because it might not be a size 22, could be a 24 or even 26, Bridal sizes are weird.

Good quagmire to be in...I am going on 6 weeks out and was in a 22/24 pant and down to 16w. It also depends on your shape. I have a large belly and upper body and Im lucky I have lost most weight there. Was 3x in toos and now in xl or 1x. Good luck

In six months I dropped from a 22 to a size 10 (252 lbs to 156 lbs) so I think an 18 even in weird bridal sizes sounds like it might be huge.  I would order a size 16.  Definitely don't get your shoes too early as your feel will change tons as well!

On average, most people lose half of their excess weight by the six month mark.
