I ended up in the er last night with sever pain in my stomach. Cat scan was clear. I took laxatives yesterday and tried an enema today and nothing. I called my doctor and he said to try Mir a lax and Milk of magnesia. Anyone else have this problem?

Yes, Lots of us have this problem. Take action, and keep on top of it. I find Miralax better than Colace...both are stool softeners. If I don't go one day, fine, if I don't go the second morning, then I take something. I also use fleet liquid Glycerin suppositories if I am having trouble with the actually passing of stool because it is hard. TMI I know... but this is the real stuff...LOL.

I have found that using chia seeds once or twice a week keeps me going quite well

I ended up in the ER sometime in October for the same reason. It took a total of 4 enemas over 2 days to get relief.  I recommend taking miralax daily to keep things moving.

If you are taking opiate pain medicine that will cause it.

Constipation is the new normal for many of us after surgery.  Most people end up taking fiber, Miralax, Milk of Magnesia, etc.  Eating the high protein, low carb diet makes it worse especially if you are also limiting fat.

Fiber powder goes in coffee, water, cereal everything these days. Once you get it figured out then you just repeat it every day.

My gastro doc recommended a cap full of miralax every morning to keep things moving.  I have diverticula (which I did not have before the surgery) because I allowed myself to go on for too long.  He said as long as I use my miralax I should be fine.  I hope it works soon!  Good luck!

I will add your name as a new one trying to steal the title as "Queen of Constipation."  Try using Miralax (think Miracle).

I didn't have a BM for a while after surgery, but by day 4 I realized that I'd rather work to get things moving than wait until it was too severe for me to do anything about it at home. Used some milk of magnesia (nasty stuff) and it did the trick a week or so later I used some Miralax mixed into warm herbal tea and also worked (plus I couldn't taste it).
