This site serves the public. "Black Folks" is offensive to me, and clearly to many on here - but in the scheme of public forums, it's not exactly over the line (the N word is over the line, "colored" is over the line, it's over YOUR line, it's over the line for a political leader... but just another patient on the very public boards? Educate and move along).

Educate and move along? On creeping racism? On lack of scientific evidence? On how language reveals, shores up, and continues bias? 'Black folks' isn't just over my line. At worst it's a dog whistle for racists, and at best it's a ridiculously hateful, outmoded expression.

I could go on, but engaging with you is less productive than ******g into the wind.

I think it's wonderful that you can Black-splain.

You know who gets to determine if a description is offensive?

The person(s) to whom the description is ascribed to.

Does your logic apply to public lunch counters as well? Public buses? Anyplace that can claim their actions and or comment "serves the public'?

There are two issues here and I know you know them. Only one of them relates to an endorsement of hair care products. It's the second issue that is causing the emotional fireworks.

Yep, black folks... if my skin was darker in the photo would you have posted this comment? I doubt it.

Um... where is the attacking, belittling, and humiliating? I see NONE of that in responses to the original post.

Yea I am with everybody else. I was in the beauty industry ( teaching and management) for 20 plus years and I will tell you it is a marketing scam. Look at it this way - you lost your hair due to what was going on IN your body. Not what you were putting ON it. Now having said that , there are some products ( Rogaine) that work on people who's baldness is due to clogged follicles. Hair changes texture and thickness based on what we put in our body and whats going on there. I have seen women lose hair due to menopause and pregnancy because of hormone changes. Back in the 80's when everyone was getting perms we would have to warn young girls when they were going through puberty, went on or off the pill etc that perms would sometimes NOT take. So again, hair loss and growth come from what is going on IN our bodies. However, the fact that you are seeing some sprouting with new hair is all good!

HI! US Patent Application No.DOCUMENT-IDENTIFIER: US 20120219518 A1

says in paragraph 9 that castor oil adheres/binds to hair. So chances are the thickening that you see is a result of the castor oil binding/adhering to your hair.

Castor oil also contains numerous fatty acids which function as conditioning agents to reduce breakage and split ends.

You may be seeing thickening and growth, however I surmise it is coming from reduced hair breakage and the adherence of castor oil to your hair strands.
