I'm always so fascinated with people like that! I bet there are a lot of chefs who are super tasters. I kind of wish I was...

DS says there is a much higher percentage of chefs who are super tasters than in the general population (not surprising I guess). When he was about 10, he could smell different types of wine blindfolded and tell you what they were after just smelling each one for a few minutes beforehand. I remember one summer vacation when he insisted on doing that and we resisted because we didn't want him to be embarrassed at failing (no problem). No way I could do that even with a wine I have had multiple times.

I'm always amazed by that. I know from taking a TON of wine classes years ago that the smell is everything (and I love swirling - and smelling - a wonderful wine - the "bouquet" is often even better than the taste), but I've always envied those people who can pick up all the nuances in wine. Some I get because they're so obvious, but others, no - I don't detect some of those tastes AT ALL. I'm sure the people who can do that are mostly super tasters.

Good Morning and Happy Friday-Eve. For those that missed the update, Em did pass her AP test so that was a bit exciting yesterday morning. Accountability: I had extra cashews and PB crackers in the evening.

QOTD: I also have a strong sense of smell and I'd say my hearing is slipping too but hate to admit that toy hubby.

Yay to Em! I can't believe how much things have changed in 5 years. I remember when I was giving you advice about her moving into middle school!

Good morning, everybody!

I got a text from someone that i was in physical proximity with last week, that he tested positive for COVID-19, so I went in for a test yesterday. I went to one of the free testing facilities at our county fairgrounds. It was pretty easy: drive up, give some information, crack the window to receive swab and vial, self swab and return the vial with the broken of top of the swab in it. All in all, it took about an hour and a half, mostly just waiting.

I really don't think that I have COVID-19, but just wanted to be sure. We weren't that close together and he was wearing a mask. Also, its been 8 days and I haven't had any symptoms. Better safe than sorry. I should hear on Saturday.

I woke up early and have been out on our screen porch drinking coffee and reading. My son should get his AP result today.

I was planning to do a couple of miles on the virtual 10-K, but we got a big rainstorm yesterday, so I will have to make it up today.

QOTD: My close reading is the worst. My longer vision is fine. Probably hearing is best.

Breakfast: Sausage

Snack: protein bar

lunch: Chicken

Snack: nuts

Dinner TBD

Have a great day, all!

I hope your results come back negative for Covid. Good luck to your son. I am steadily chipping away at my miles, I know that once I am done I need to scale back on my mileage for a bit.
