Good Monday morning, QJB and menuers! I had a lovely weekend - zoom with some of my favorite people on Friday, work and reading (Banyan Moon - highly recommend!) on Saturday, and abstract painting yesterday. All in all, a good mix of doing and relaxing!
QOTD: my most recent app was YouTube tv since we cut the cord on cable. But my best recent app is Otta. It surfaces jobs in tech and provides you with context about the company and gives you links to read more. It's awesome.
Wish me luck today! I have to present a product pitch and go to market plan as an interview project and then immediately after, I have another interview!
B: egg salad with everything but the bagel jalapeno
L: Amy's andouille chicken sausage
D: something with ground turkey and snow peas - maybe a Chinese sauce or I have some Thai curry or a jarred Indian sauce. TBD!
Have a kickass start to the week!

QJB these might be my favorite cookie sets you've ever made. They're gorgeous!!!
Sheila, don't you stop posting Belize pictures and stories! Now Belize is on my list of places to visit. It looks magical. You look insanely fit and beautiful!
Your qotd is too hard!!! I can't be vegan, I cannot. I can't be raw paleo nope. So single food it is. Maybe my food would be pizza like Jen since you can have lots of different toppings or even a salad on a pizza! Or maybe nachos because again the toppings are endless. Hmmm that would make me so sad. I'm choosing to boycott today's question, ya hob-knobbing fat-kidneyed hackeye lol
i have the bougiest of meals today. I sometimes buy the king crab or Dungeness crab at Costco and man is it a ***** to break down with a pair of kitchen shears and a skinny knife. I finally bought a crab and lobster cracker and tiny little pitchfork things and I broke down a few Dungeness crabs last night. Yum for me.
B: mashed avocado and CRAB
L: boars head ever roast chicken sandwich ieht havarti
D: probably more crab though I may pick up some smoked chicken since I have a zoom tonight and don't want to cook! ??

I feed people out of love, I promise! You might even like it!

You and Julia should come over and I'll make you an impossible meat stir fry with snow peas and water chestnuts and gojujang sauce! Or I'll grill halloumi cheese and serve it with sumac spiced couscous and wilted spinach and garlic toum spread on the side! It will be delicious, I promise!

My last company had weekly town halls and whenever there was a controversial topic, like RTO, the chat would be on FIRE. I could not BELIEVE what people would post - and it wasn't anonymous! I actually found it shocking how disrespectful people would be. Maybe I'm old school!

Well funny you should ask...my computer is 90 days old. My last one is like 10 and probably won't even boot up - I've always just used my work laptops. When I quit my job a couple of months ago, I had to buy myself a personal one. I did a bunch of comparison shopping and got another MacBook Air from Costco!
A lost wallet would make me crazy. Especially since it's likely in your car or house. How annoying. Especially the license piece. Hopefully your motor vehicles offices let you make an appointment.
Im meeting a friend for a HOT hike this afternoon at Great Falls. I've super slacked on the exercise as of late so this will be a nice exertion. I'll be doing my advisory work this morning and putting some time into an interview project I have to present on Monday, as well. I'm working too hard for an unpaid person LOL!
B: leftover Dijon chicken
L: a boars head ever roast wrap on my way to the hike
d: maybe impossible meat in some dish or grilled halloumi and spinach. TBD
I hope you have another amazing day or organizing and cookie fun!

I won a "guac-off" back in 2013 and still use it as bragging rights LOLOL

Way to go, Julia! It's such a good feeling to be ahead of your work and have just one final paper to go! Well, I say "just" but it's probably a doozy. You will cru**** as you do all your school work.
What an interesting QOTD. So, my friends and I were debating the book "The Measure" this weekend. For anyone who hasn't read it, I highly recommend it - the premise is that everyone in the world wakes up one day with a small wooden box next to them with a piece of string in it. The length of the string is related to how much time you have left alive. So we were debating, would you look? I said ABSOLUTELY YES. The big question of my life is, how much time do I have left? If I had a short string, I would immediately plan a trip around the world and have my loved ones meet me at various parts along the way. So my answer is: I want to live in The Measure so I can know how much longer I need to go on grinding!
B: cottage cheese + everything but the bagel JALAPENO seasoning. This stuff is ah-mazing. I found it at Aldi and ordered a huge bottle from amazon
L: boar's head ever roast chicken + havarti cheese + mini avocado
D: Chicken thighs seared with rosemary, dijon, cream sauce and rice for the fam (a little for me too)
PSA: Do not ever buy the chocolate truffles at Trader Joe's. DON'T DO IT. They are so effing good, I cannot deal. I don't eat sweets but these are like bliss in a bite.

Awww the kitties! My kitty loses her mind, yowling in the car (once I wrestle her into the bag, that is). She had a wellness check last week and they shone a light in her eyes, put a thingy deep into her ear canals, gave her a Rabies shot, and stuck a thermometer up her butt...all before the dreaded nail clipping! And they wonder why she's "spicy" LOL. Yes, that is in her notes. It took 3 of us to wrap her in a towel and keep her from clawing the vets face off while she clipped ha ha. She gained an ounce but I will take that over a bigger gain!
Grim, you look absolutely fabulous, by the way!
QOTD: I was not because my freshman year roommate rushed one and she told me about one event where they were hazing the girls by opening up the alphabet sugar cereal (I forget the name) onto the floor and making them spell out words. It felt pretty demeaning. But, I had many friends who were in sororities and had phenomenal experiences and made friends for life. So that was just a one-off, hopefully!
I am living a very "when it rains, it pours" moment in my life, but not in a bad way. New opportunities coming out of the woodwork. On a not so positive note, I had a super fun weekend with friends from a former job and we had a dinner party Friday and a big birthday party Saturday and apparently it was a COVID superspreader event :( Five people so far from our dinner party of 13 are down for the count, with excrutiatingly sore throats. Thank god everyone is vaccinated and we aren't in the "people going on a vent" period. Phew. I feel great. I think I may have COVID resistant DNA. Perhaps the NIH should study me!
B: Not gonna lie, I had a leftover piece of pizza
L: We are going to the grocery store and I will pick up boar's head ever roast yummmmmm
D: Leftover shrimp and asking here - can I eat deviled eggs I made on Thursday?
Did anyone see the video of the moron tourist in Italy who walked across the Trevi Fountain to fill up her water bottle from the 18th century fountain? I swear we should jail these idiots.

Thanks for kicking it off, Jen, while QJB is moving and shaking at ShakerCon!
I am reading Demon Copperhead and it's all I can do to not just ignore all life things and read, read, read. It is sooooo good. I am hooked. Alas, lots of work to get done today, and a few calls.
QOTD: Hmmm great question. I would like to hike Great Falls on the Maryland side, so I will make that a goal. I have done a lot of what I have wanted to do, so that feels good. I visited my parents, took the kiddos to Philly, spent time at the pool, rearranged my spice cabinet, cut the cord on cable (hallelujah! Saving so much money! We are doing YouTube TV, pea**** netflix, amazon prime).
Good for you, listening to your body! You are so active and fit and I know your dedication to being active is truly amazing, but the body knows best
My menu today:
B: Leftover andouille chicken sausage that DH grilled and smoked (yum) and a pint of raspberries. So fresh and delicious.
L: Boars Head Ever Roast chicken, mayo, munster cheese on a piece of bread from the farmers market
D: TBD. We have some leftover salmon and chicken, but I have to run out around dinner time and I am tempted to pick something up. Likely a Chipotle bowl if I get something.
E: I am so far off the wagon I may as well be on the moon. I have to get back to it.
Have a fab day!

Good Tuesday morning, all!
Im on a high today - met up with my mentor last night and somehow, 4.5 hours passed in the blink of an eye! It was great to connect and talk all about our lives and work and what's next for us both! It filled my soul!
Today is decently low key. I may do laundry and pack for my upcoming weekend trip back to my hometown, Detroit. Perhaps some meal prep for the fam. I have to make some calls and do some advising work.
QoTD: browse Instagram. I avoid tik tok because I am fully aware I will be sucked in and end up watching six hours a day of cat and cooking videos. Ha.
B: board head ever roast, havarti, avocado
L: chicken salad made from rotisserie chicken
D: ground turkey bowls from hello fre**** has brown rice and garlic and shawarma blend and cucumbers and tatziki and looks good!

I'm no math whiz but is 8 half pound burgers a stack of meat that weighs 4 pounds?! Your poor intestines lol.
I just read a story about either a Big Mac or whopper in a country in South Asia (maybe Vietnam?) where they have a vegetarian cheeseburger. 16 slices of cheese on a bun! Ha!

You?re so committed and doing so great - you and Grim both! Your commitment is outstanding
I'm with my stepkids and I was explaining to them that we were never home because we didn?t have phones and iPads. So the only way to see **** and do **** was to get out on your bike and ride to your friends!
(Us last night and I am sorry if it's as big as Godzilla what the hell is going on - I've never added a photo from my phone due to how un-tech-friendly this site is lol)
Today is one last meal in Philadelphia and then driving home with a grocery stop on the way. Then lots of prep for some upcoming meetings. I have a good menu laid out for the next 4-5 days - after traveling with people with limited palettes, if I never see a menu that has chicken tenders and fries on it again, it will be too soon. I channeled my inner Hala and wolfed down an entire pint of raspberries yesterday - my body was craving nutrients! Turkey, chicken, tilapia, red dal and some veggies will feature prominently on my menu. My body thanks me.
But this happens after breakfast with our friends!
B: everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. I?ll eat half. Plus a latte beforehand.
L: Boars head ever roast and havarti cheese
D: rotisserie chicken with asparagus and couscous. Kids can have something else!
Have a most wonderful day, Queen, and all who follow!

That is one pissed off otter! This article and sign is very funny for me, someone who lives nowhere near otters! I wonder what cross he has to bear LOL

YOU HAVE A VEGAN FRIEND?!
I feel like you just told me the earth is flat. I am processing.

I watched it with my friend and her husband and her husband rented it or found it on Netflix or Amazon Prime or something. They both commented, "OH. We have been watching it on cable tv, and this one has more scenes" (such as Kristen Wiig in bed trying new positions with Jon Hamm). So apparently, there is an edited version.
The bathroom at the wedding dress shop...I die.

Omg I rewatched Bridesmaids two weeks ago and it stands the rest of time! I died all over again. That movie is the BEST!

Oh! I've never heard of us having a famous sub shop. Did that person not like you?!
The two food groups that Detroit is most known for - you'd eat one. Southeast Michigan has tons of "Coney Islands" which are Greek style diners that serve chili dogs and burgers and fries in addition to avgolemono soup and spanikopota. Yummo. The second is, many people don't know this but Michigan has the largest population of Middle Eastern people outside of the Middle East! Many people moved to America from the ME to work at Ford. So, Michigan has insanely delicious Middle Eastern restaurants! I know you wouldn't eat shish taook or hummus or fattoush salad or falafel - but I'm gonna make sure I do! Lol!

Hi all! Queen, I'm so impressed that you've rocked an MBA while running a small business!
I don'****ch many movies but when I was young, I had rented the Back to the Future tape on VHS so many times I could quote it! I haven't seen it in a long time. What a movie that was! I knew quite a bit of Dirty Dancing back in the day too. Memories...
I'm really excited - I just used miles to book a trip back to Detroit to see my oldest girlfriends in the world. Well, as in we have been friends since the 90s and 2000s! I moved away 15 years ago but it's still so familiar. I also put a deposit down for a new tattoo. It's been years since I last got inked so I'm excited!
B: English muffin with pb
L: chicken tacos with poblanos and peaches and cabbage slaw (a home chef meal)
D: leftover impossible meat ricotta pasta bake from yesterday. All meals must do double duty in this house to cut down on cooking! Lol
Have a most wonderful day, y'all

That's such a great meme, QJB, and very on point!
QOTD: I could not be less interested. I have no idea why so many of my adult female friends are excited about Barbie, I am almost insecure about it...am I missing something? It's like y'all are at the cool kids table and I am wondering why I am not
I had a most lovely dinner last night, catching up with my gal pals. But my friend sadly, did not cook Indian food. She cooked an interesting dish that she fell in love with when she lived in Sydney, Australia and tries to recreate. It's risotto with tomato paste, onions, pumpkin puree, lots of dill, and salmon. Not exactly my taste but I can see how someone would like it! She also has a PEACH tree in her front yard so we had a peach and mozzarella salad and she sent me home with peaches. I will have one for breakfast, and make a salsa with poblano pepper for tomorrow's Home Chef tacos. Yummo.
B: Small peach, mashed avocado, jalapeno chicken sausage, a chunk of leftover cheese in the fridge. Hmm that sounds like a real flavor mash-up. Let's see what ends up on the plate!
L: I am tentatively grabbing a midday coffee with my mentor, so TBD. We haven't confirmed.
D: A Home Chef meal that looks like an impossible burger, kale, ricotta, tomato sauce pasta bake.
I have really had the same foods in the rotation (salmon, chicken thighs, chicken sausage, impossible burger, repeat) so I am hoping these Home Chef meals trigger my creativity.
I have a second QOTD if anyone reads this far. I am going to a BYOB party in early August. Bring Your Own Board! People make boards of cheese, charcuterie, smores, pickles...the sky is the limit! Any great board ideas from this board? (No Grim, I am NOT bringing a ham board!!!).

Ok so I doom scrolled on amazon for like ever, and I was thinking of maybe 10 things, and then realized I didn't actually need most of them. I ended up with some amazon men's shoelace-less running shoes for $30 for the 17 year old, some Crocs sneakers for DH, and Temptations cat treats for Chloe. Plus, the very exciting Oxy Clean half off washing machine cleaning tabs. I recently noticed how DISGUSTING the rubber front loader washing machine seal was and DH tackled it with a canister of Lysol wipes. Eww! Apparently you should run a cleaning one every 30 cycles. Which for us, in the summer, is probably every two months. Yuck.
Today is pretty uneventful but tonight I am going to a friend's with another friend and she is making us dinner. She has the most stunning rowhouse in DC that she redid, completely custom. Everything from her furniture to her light fixtures is just insanely gorgeous. She is from India and cooks the most delicious food! Last time I forgot my leftovers but that won't happen again, no siree!
B: English muffin with peanut butter
L: Leftover chicken shawarma and garlic paste and hummus!
D: Likely rice and dal and something else like chicken or fish, super tasty. Cheese and crackers and wine beforehand!
Have a most fabulous day, y'all!

The big jugs of Temptations treats are like 40% off for Prime Day! (my cat goes absolutely bananas for them)

Ohhh I don't know pea ice! I tried to google it but only found pea ice cream

Garlic toum is almost spicy, due to the raw garlic - much stronger than roasted garlic! If you have Trader Joes, they have it in the area where hummus and dips are - give it a try!

Oh if there was lightning or even ongoing thunder I would understand. But one tiny faraway rumble and it's like the lifeguards are filled with glee at making everyone sit outside of the pool for 45 minutes. Seems excessive!
