I got a Fit*****arge HR for my birthday today, woohoo! Unfortunately, it is making me really nervous. My resting heart rate has never been below 80--it was 86 while I sat in a movie theater... And when I went on a leisurely walk in the woods, my rate spiked to 160, so I turned around right away.
Here are my stats, if it makes a difference:
Three weeks post op (revision from band)
Female
Age 41
Height: 4'11"
Weight: 154
BMI: 31
Should I freak out while I wait for Monday morning, or is there an easy explanation? Thanks!

I'm a little late to setting goals, but tomorrow is my birthday, and that always puts me in a contemplative mood...!
August goals:
- Move from Obese to Overweight category (6 more lbs!)
- Transition back to work and continue to get in all my water and protein.
- Run a mile outside (I can do it on the treadmill, but fall apart on real pavement...)
- Dye my hair something fun and crazy, like blue or purple. I'm 41 (tomorrow), a total preppy, but for some reason, I really want to go bold and wild. I have the appointment, already--just hoping I don't chicken out!

I felt this way a lot when I had severe GERD from LapBand complications and a hidden hernia . There is such a thing as "silent" reflux, so that you have some of the obnoxious symptoms (like nausea) without outright heartburn. I'd have a doctor check you out!

Aw, hang in there. It will happen! ...that what I keep telling myself, anyway!
I am also a revision from the band, and I'm 2.5 weeks out. I have lost just over 7lbs, but nothing--not even a freaking ounce (!) in a week!
My surgeon said it would be slower due to the revision and due to a low BMI at the time of surgery, so all I can do is keep following the rules and continue to believe that I will not be the statistical anomaly that doesn't succeed.
I hope you can find an exercise routine that you enjoy, though. That is the one thing I got from the band surgery that I am most proud of and has made my life so much better!

I love my elliptical machine! At first, I literly couldn't do more than 5 minutes, but I kept at it, and now I do it every morning before I do anything else. I pick an "addictive" show (currently Orange is the New Black!) and I tell myself I'm only allowed to watch it while on the machine. It keeps me on it longer to watch a full show, and also keeps me off the couch, so that I don't binge watch shows. I'm on at least 45 minutes x4 or 5/week, now.

I am! Once the incisions were healed enough, I was cleared, as long as I am careful about not being too tough on the ab muscles :) So yesterday, I treated water, rather than the breast stoke... Felt great!

Nope. I have had exactly two bubbly drinks since I was originally banded in 2009, and the experience was so miserable both times that I will NEVER do that, again!

That's the brand I was using :( ...but thanks...
I am slowly sipping ice water and starting to feel a little better.

Today is my 2nd day of Mushies!
I'm not feeling too great this morning, but assuming that I feel up to it, my plan is:
B: 1 scrambled egg
L: Turkey meatball and butternut squash
S: 1/2 c cottage cheese
D: 2.5oz tuna made with Greek yogurt
S: 1/4 c Ricotta and cinnamon

on 8/3/15 5:22 am
Wow, that's a lot of progress for such a short time! Keep up the great work :)

I am 14 days out today! I've generally been feeling great--getting in all of my fluids and protein with no problems. Yesterday I swam, went on the elliptical machine, and went for a long walk!
I woke up feeling just fine this morning. I had about 4oz of Fruit2O, then grabbed my chewable multivitamin.
By the last chew on the multi, I started feeling awful--dizzy, sweaty, and stomach cramps.
These are sugar free, obviously, so I know this isn't a "real" dump. But any ideas why this might happen, so I can avoid it EVER happening again?

I'm already mapping out a plan to reorganize my craft room. So excited!

Thanks :) Any cooler recommendations? I have put a bunch in my Amazon shopping cart but I haven't settled on one, yet. I really prefer making shakes at home rather than the store bought ones so I am hoping to find one that really keeps stuff COLD.

I made a bold decision yesterday... my surgeon offered to recommend four weeks off to my HR department. At first I thought "no way"--I could never take that much time off! But I had a change of heart-- and I am going for it!!!!
I am 1.5 weeks out and now that my drain is out, I feel physically well enough to go back, already. However, I know myself. I have a VERY high stress job and I am on the go all the time. I have to travel across the state a lot and I am In the car up to 5 hours a day and have zero down time. I have never had something as luxurious as a lunch break--it's just go, go, go and shove something in your mouth when you have a second.
Im opting for the full amount of time off so that I can really take the time to get good habits started, and focus 100% on my nutrition.
I feel selfish for this decision, but for once I think being selfish is the right way to go!

I saw a cool project that encouraged people to just have FOUR items in their wardrobe and wear only those for a month (not including underwear and accessories). So like, two tops, one skirt and one pants. They all said that no one noticed, and that it was very liberating. I couldn't go that extreme, but as I lose weight I am going to be more conscious about replacing with high quality "staples" rather than a closet full of things I never wear.
I am 10 days post op (one more day until I move on to Mushies!):
7am: 8oz Ocean Spray diet
8am: 1/2 cup cottage cheese with dry onion dip mixed in
9:30am: 12oz water
12pm: 8oz Unjury Strawberry mixed with Lemonade Crystal Light
1:30pm: 10oz Powerade Zero
3pm:1/2 c Fat Free Fage Greek Yogurt mixed with Peanut Butter Matrix protein powder
4:30pm: 8oz Fruit20
6:30pm: 8oz Mint Chocolate Matrix protein shake
8pm: 8oz herbal tea
9pm: 1/2 c sugar free butterscotch pudding

on 7/29/15 4:15 am
Not all protein shakes are equal. Check the labels and only purchase ones that contain:
20 grams of protein or more per serving
14 grams of sugar or less per serving
5 grams of fat or less per serving

I just revised from Band to RNY, but I the first few months of being banded, whenever I had a stall it was increasing the calories that finally broke me out of the lull.

Hi, I found the Ensure Clear Protein at the grocery store. It's definitely better tasting than Isopure, but I wouldn't say it's...good... It comes in two flavors: Peach and Blueberry Pomegranate. It only has 8 grams of Protein in 10 Fl oz so I have been adding unflavored protein when I need to.
10fl oz :
180 Calories
0 Fat
8 Protein

Haha, I am a freak and love cleaning my house. Sometimes I think I'd be happier if I quit my professional job and became someone's personal maid. I just find it so satisfying!
I am 8 days out and generally having a pretty easy time getting everything in, but late afternoons can be hard to force the liquids... Today's plan (on track so far!):
7am- 4oz Propel Zero
8am- 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese
9:30am- 12oz water
12pm- 8oz Ensure Active Clear Protein (Peach)
1:30pm- 12oz herbal tea
3pm- 5.3oz Non-fat Vanilla Chobani Greek
4:30pm- 16oz Diet Ocean Spray juice
8pm- 8oz water
9pm- 1/4c fat free ricotta

Thanks everyone. I woke up feeling a whole lot better this morning. Energy is much higher and I'm not so queasy. Low grade fever is still there but my incisions look just fine. I guess there are just going to be good days and bad as I heal...

on 7/27/15 1:52 pm
I had my surgery a week ago and until today, I felt like a rock star. I was able to get in my liquids and protein, was walking, had energy and very little intense pain. I hadn't taken any pain meds at all since Thursday morning.
But in the middle of the night my incisions really started bothering me, and I was very uncomfortable. I took the Oxycodone this morning, which helped the pain... but all day I have just felt completely BLAH. Nothing I can put my finger on, exactly, but I feel just a touch nauseous, no energy, and really have to force myself to get in liquids. I have the slightest fever--99.5.
Do these highs and lows seem normal in the first few weeks, or should I be concerned that I'm taking a turn for the worse?
