QOTD- I use Fairlife milk. I use it in my mocha, but I don't actually drink it straight. I didn't figure out I was lactose intolerant until after my surgery. The premier protein shakes were all milk protein and I was in misery. Now that I know I can take lacktaid pills and still have dairy. I used to do soy but after my breast cancer the doctors said I should probably pass on it, since it has plant estrogens in it. I tried Macadamia nut milk, but it just didn't have enough protein in it.

My brother and his wife are coming to my Moms this weekend. Unfortunately I'm not exactly thrilled, either is my Mom. She has appointments scheduled, so will have to be gone. And he brings his dogs that are a pain.

Have a great day everyone!

QOTD- Not adventurous at all, I don't eat meat but do eat fish and shrimp.

I had a long talk with my boss yesterday. He is so supportive and helpful. He understands my issues and told me to go ahead and make mistakes. We can always correct them. I've been so afraid to move forward. But he made it OK. So I need to get to work.

Love the goats, baby goats make my day!

I lowered my desk and I'm not sure I like it. I also now have a vertical mouse that is good. Trying not to have my wrist ache so much.

I saw my surgeon yesterday and my wrist is good, I should be able to do anything with it. I have one more PT session next week. Some things aggravate it, but mostly it doesn't ache all the time like it used to.

Have a great day everyone!

That is so true. Vee my girl kitty will only drink out of a water glass in the bathroom. She lets me know she is thirsty by standing on her back legs and pawing at the sink cabinet. So of course I indulge her and fill the glass. She prefers her water fresh and cold. Not that she is at all spoiled.

QOTD- As a spinner I'd say sheep, but I love goats. They are so sweet, so I'd say both if I had the space. They had goats where I boarded my horse, and they were so adorable. I pretty much love all animals.

I'm struggling at work, my previous experiences make me gun shy. I'm afraid I will either put too much or not enough on the drawings so I've just been stuck. My boss is good, he gets me and is not pressuring me although he probably should.

It's not supposed to be as warm today, but I need to go water the plants anyway.

Honestly I am depressed, I stress over everything and have no joy in my life. Being a responsible adult truly sucks at times.

Have a great day everyone!

QOTD- Teva Sandals, they are great in the sand and easy to remove. Thank you velcro.

I just got back from PT, I really need to lower my desk because that is what is aggravating my wrist. I also ordered and upright mouse.

I need to get back to work.

Have a great day everyone!

I would have passed on the stinky shark too!

QOTD- My breakfast is pretty much boring, Greek yogurt and raspberries when they are reasonable.

It's supposed to be 93 today, I will try to keep the house cool. I hate closing the blinds and drapes but with a 2 story house it's the only way I can keep my bedroom cool. The A/C works great but to get my bedroom cool the downstairs is almost arctic. I have multiple sensors so in the afternoon I switch to the one in my bedroom so it gets cool. My bedroom window faces East so it gets the morning sun, I hate to deprive the kitties of their sun time so I leave the blinds open. I know spoiled kitties. I honestly hate closing the blinds and drapes, I look out the window and watch the birds. I have large trees around me so there is always something going on.

My wrist is really aching today, I really do need to lower my desk. But I will need help to do it.

I'm struggling with trying to figure out how to retire. Between my Social Security & pension I barely have enough to cover my house payment. I know it's my fault for buying a house, but at the time I didn't realize the payment would be so high. My insurance and taxes have increased so the escrow account cost goes up each year. I also invested money in improvements a new furnace and A/C, I had to extend the duct work upstairs as the only heat was ceiling heat. I also replaced the 4 windows that needed replacing. It's much quieter and stays warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. At this point I'm not willing to invest any more money in this house. I don't think it will be my forever home, as the stairs and broken bones attest to.

I just keep trying to figure out how to actually retire. I know that I'm not alone in this, but at the moment it seems like an insurmountable problem.

Sorry for the negativity.

Have a great day everyone!

QOTD- I've tried but my organization skills are definitely lacking. I'm lucky if I can just get the basics done.

I'm struggling at work, I have to force myself to do anything. My wrist is aching and so is my back. I know I need to lower my desk but so far I haven't done it. It would help with the aching wrist.

I really just want to retire, if I could afford it I would quit today. Sorry I'm such a downer.

Have a great day everyone!

I love the meme! Don't know how you handle the cicadas they would drive me nuts!

My roommate got a job, so maybe things will be better. I had 19 hours paid last week, which is good since I haven't had a paycheck in almost 2 months. I did finally get money from Paid Leave Oregon, so I'm not totally broke. I can cover my house payment for this month. I hate living paycheck to paycheck but that is my reality.

It's not supposed to be as hot as the last couple of days, high 90's is too warm. Especially when trying to keep my 2nd story bedroom cool at night. To keep it cool the downstairs is cold. I've been thinking about selling my house, but honestly I don't think I can afford the interest rates now and don't want to move again. The stairs and I are not friends, I really want a single story house.

My neighbors, the ones with the rooster were playing very loud musi****il about 10:30PM on Saturday, my roommate had talked to them a couple of days before and basically they told him too bad call the cops. Why is there always one neighbor that makes everyone else's life a living hell? Not looking forward to the 4th, I despise fireworks and have PTSD so it just sucks. The city of Portland has banned fireworks but I don't think it will do any good.

Have a great day everyone! I miss QJB and Grim has anyone heard how they are doing?

I just re-watched all of Grimm recently, it was so fun. I forgot how good it was. They are having a 40th anniversary for The Goonies, the house is Astoria is gorgeous.

QOTD- The Goonies was filmed in Astoria, as was Kindergarten Cop, Grimm was filmed all over the metro area, as was Leverage those are the only ones I can currently think of. I just re-watched Grimm and it was such a treat to see Portland on film. Unfortunately some of the businesses don't exist any more, but it is still fun.

Still trying to get all my accesses for work, so far there is at least one that I need that I can't get into.

I found out from PT that I need to lower my desk. It shouldn't be too bad, it's IKEA with legs that raise and lower but it won't be very easy. But if it keeps my arm from aching it will be worth it.

I didn't get many hours the last 2 weeks but I should have some.

Cloudy and overcast with a high of 72, and low of 53 so not bad weather.

Have a great day everyone!

QOTD- I wish my roommate would help more. He says he will do something and never gets around to it.

I'm trying to do my PT for my wrist but I gotta say it hurts and sometimes I just don't want to do it. But I also don't want to lose functionality in my hand and wrist.

I started back to work yesterday and of course they have no work. I finally got some money from Paid Leave Oregon. I don't have an accounting of it but I believe that they paid me for six weeks, so I'm no longer broke. That is good, but if I don't have any work I don't have anything to charge my time to, so I don't get paid. I just asked my boss for work, so maybe I'll get some. It seems to be feast or famine. I hate being overwhelmed but I also hate not having any work. I will survive.

My roommate is unemployed so no help, and he still hasn't done the drip mist system. He did buy the tomato cages but I will need his help to put them on the plants.

Another beautiful day, high of 78 and clear and sunny. But there is supposed to be rain tomorrow. I hope it happens so I won't have to water the plants.

Have a great day everyone!

QOTD- absolutely everything smells clean

I signed up for paid leave Oregon, so I will get a weekly amount until I go back to work. It's better than no income.

I fell again so now I have a sprained ankle and sore ribs. What an idiot.

I'm struggling with just everyday things, and it all seems to take so long and requires more energy than I have. I will survive.

Take care everyone and have a great day!

QOTD- I would own a horse again. I miss my boy.

I've been MIA I broke my wrist on 4/27 had it operated on 5/2 and now I'm trying to get back to normal. Of course it was my right wrist and I am totally right handed. What a nightmare. I've applied for Paid Leave Oregon, I pay into it every week so I figured I might as well try to get some money since I've missed the last 2 paychecks. I fell down the stairs, stairs a dangerous.

I hope everyone is doing well! Have a great day everyone!

QOTD- No plans.

I got my hair done yesterday. My hair is thinning and it's driving me crazy. I'd actually thought of letting it go gray, but my Mom's hair is still salt & pepper and she will be 90 next month so not much hope of white hair like my BFF. She has the most beautiful white hair. The only suggestion I got was maybe biotin and possibly collagen but I've also heard that doesn't work. Any ideas?

TGIF I am so ready for the weekend. Today is beautiful but it is supposed to rain for the weekend. I'm going to wash my sheets and hang them outside.

QOTD- Yes I've read it, but for a more fun story from John Steinbeck I would recommend Travels With Charley he does a cross country trip with Charley a standard poodle.

Yesterday I worked so hard, I had 2 jobs to complete and actually got them both done. It wasn't fun and I don't plan on repeating that anytime soon. I have so much work it stresses me out. I don't multitask it is hard enough to get one job straight when I finish one and then I move on to the next. We have 2 new people starting next week so maybe things will slow down then.

It was a beautiful day yesterday 75 degrees and sunny. Today will be much the same.

QOTD- Sun one minute, pouring rain the next and frost advisories. Not your typical spring weather, add in hail and wind and that's what it's been like.

I finally planted all of my veggies and flowers yesterday. My back wasn't very happy, but I'll survive. I also went to the movies on Saturday I saw A Working Man, Jason Statham definitely action packed and violent. It was an early show and there were only 2 of us in the theater. I don't understand the allure of Minecraft, I never played the game and am amazed that the movie is doing so well. The next movie I want to see is The Amateur probably some time this week.

I also watched football, not a great game but at least it was football. The UFL team I like is the St Louis Battle Hawks. I'm not sure why I picked them but I like the antics of the fans.

I need to get to work.

QOTD- Pre-surgery we used to go for the seafood buffet. But it's a waste now, since neither one of us can eat very much. Plus I hate the smoke, since it is an Native American casino you can smoke pretty much any where. And the non-smoking section doesn't have the good slots.

I got the job done that was due yesterday, so I'm on a roll. I over think everything, and worry too much about this stuff. I have another job I need to get done today.

I'm looking for a new series to binge, I finished Only Murders in the Building, and Ghosts UK. Waiting for the new season of The Cleaner on Britbox. Any suggestions?

QOTD- At one time I wanted to be Alexandra or my middle name Anne. Neither one stuck, and when I was a kid they called me Julie and I absolutely despise that, so now I'm Julia and will correct people if they call me anything else.

I got rid of one horrible project and hopefully I can get the date moved on the next one. It's hard to design something when the job to feed it is not done. The count does not magically get there, it has to follow the cable...OK enough I'm sure no one wants to know about telecom design.

I just paid off my Costco Visa card, it feels so good. Now I can start paying down the Chase card. As long as Elon does not f**k with my social security I'm good. When I'm done paying off my credit card I will think about saving for an actual vacation. I'm not sure I remember what that is. Last time I tried to go was the start of the pandemic and they closed down Disneyland so we basically flew down found out it was closing and flew back. I did get a refund on the 3 day ticket and we were afraid that they would shut down all the flights so we got the next one home. That and it was raining so hard we were soaked to the skin and there really isn't any place to get out of the rain. Worst non-vacation ever.

QOTD- Mold, mildew, dust mites and minor to cats. But I'll never get rid of my cats. But I was tested years ago, so who knows now.

Rainy and windy and possible thunder and hail coming this way.

I finished the pantry, and moved most everything into it. It's not ideal but it gives me more space. It's harder to add water to the espresso machine, but it will work. My kitchen is really small and doesn't have enough cabinet space. So I was using the Kallax shelf from Ikea in the dining room to store the excess, that doesn't fit in the cabinets. There really isn't any way to enlarge the kitchen without spending a ton of money so it's not happening. I'm not sure how the previous owners with 4 kids survived with this kitchen and tiny dining room, but they lived here for 50 years.

I need to get to work.

QOTD- Absolutely speak to animals.

I got to dry my sheets outside on Saturday. I love the smell of clothes dried outside. I went to the store for plants I got 3 types of tomatoes, lemon cucumbers, red pepper, an artichoke and some annuals. Now I just need to get them in the ground. It was rainy yesterday so at least they are watered. It supposed to clear on Wednesday & Thursday so I'll get them planted then.

Still trying to get the last door on the pantry I bought. Then I will need an extension cord so I can move the espresso machine and coffee grinder. I may have one that will work but I need to figure it out. Beware of furniture that requires assembly.

I didn't make it to a movie but I may go today or tomorrow. I have a counseling appointment today, I'm hoping my other meeting doesn't run late.

I rescheduled my little girl kitties appointment to Thursday, hopefully this time I will be able to get her in the carrier without any mortal wounds to either of us.

Work is calling. Have a great day everyone!

I wish I were that dog, it looks so happy!

QOTD- I donate monthly to Sea Shepherd, All Classical Radio, OPB our local NPR station and I gave to the Friends of Timberline to help rebuild from the fire. I used to volunteer for the Cat Adoption Team and the Portland Women's Crisis Line but it was too triggering. And I wanted to take all of the cats home with me. I need to find a volunteer opportunity.

I'm not sure what was in the air but yesterday my nose wouldn't stop running, so I ended up taking an antihistimine. It's supposed to be 67 today and 69 tomorrow so I'm going to try to get some plants and work on the garden. The last thing that I have to do to the pantry I bought is put the doors on. It was a pain to assemble and I don't read pictures a few words would have helped.

I plan to go to the movies this weekend, I'll probably see Captain America even though I've heard it's not very good but I like to see them on the big screen.

I also need to do something with the greenhouse since it blew away, I've decided to get rid of it. I partially disassembled it but I have to get that done. Since it is going to be nice I might finish that this afternoon.

QOTD- I'm not sure how old I was but my Mom thought I needed a pixie cut. I hated it and will never go back.

I've been really busy at work and finally got this hairy job done. It was a pain to figure out and ended up being more than I thought it would be. But it's done. So move on to the next one and the one after that...and so on... We've hired a couple more engineers but they won't start until the 21st. So maybe the work load will even out. I don't multitask anymore. I do one at a time and move on when it's done.

Just when I thought the chances of frost were pretty much nil there was a frost advisory for last night. I was talking with my roommate about buying veggie plants and he asked about frost, and I told when they start selling the plants the risk is pretty low, so I was wrong.

I got a mani pedi last night so my nails and toes are happy. Not much else going on.

QOTD- I wouldn't want to survive, life would not be worth it.

I only succeeded in taking one cat to the vet. Romeo wasn't very happy, but the little girl Vee was having none of it. I couldn't catch her and when I did it wasn't pretty. I have a plan for next time.

We didn't get the severe lightning storm and or tornado that was predicted for Wednesday night but today it is really windy and not very warm. We almost thought it was spring with the 77 degree temps. The daffodils are blooming an one of the tulips.

I need to find someone to take the moss off my roof. It's not going to be me as it is a really steep roof and I don't have a ladder. My last house the roof was relatively flat and not very tall so it wasn't a problem. I was on that roof quite a few times with no issues, but I don't want to try this one.

I'm debating restarting my Regal Unlimited movies, there are a couple right now that I would like to see. I just need to actually use it if I do.

I got my smoked salmon so that is pretty much what I've been eating. I ordered 5lbs from Barnacle Bills in Lincoln City. They have the best smoked salmon. Last time I tried vacuum sealing it and freezing it and it was still good. 5lbs is a lot of smoked salmon.

I got one job done yesterday and I have to get another one out today. Then the big one is due Friday. I hate feeling pressured to get them done. But that is what happens now. Production, production production.

I take my kitties in for their shots today. Wish me luck, I brought out the carriers yesterday and one of them actually crawled in. So I'm hoping it won't be much or a struggle.

Nothing exciting going on here.
