Sorry about that, Matt. Check back tomorrow, we have some laundry aces and maybe they have ideas.

Good morning, everyone!

My recollection is that we don't have a lot of sushi lovers on the thread, but our Monday dinner at Nobu was very yum! My favorite was a Yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño and cilantro. Of course, I was tapped out with 3 courses left.

As planned, I stayed in the city Monday night. We have another leadership meeting this morning and then I am just going to head home. It's been a lot and I have more tomorrow.

Marilyn made it to Florida and has most of the truck unloaded. I will head down Thursday night.

QOTD: No, but I've been watching this show called Filthy Fortunes and it has left me wary about leaving a bunch of stuff for my children to deal with.

Breakfast: Bagel

Lunch: Italian Beef

Dinner: TBD

Have a great day, all!

Good morning, everybody!

I got into a fender bender on Saturday morning. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. My car does have some damage that we will need to take in for an estimate next Monday. I really hope that they can fix it, I don't want to get a new car until I am retired and not driving in the city.

We did get a truck and got loaded up on Sunday morning. Marilyn made about 8 hours on Sunday and is hoping for another 8 today. Her Mom flew out to make the drive with her, which I appreciate.

This is a busy work week, we have a lot of leadership changes happening, which is leading to many meetings. Tonight we have a dinner.

QOTD: we have mostly wood. I hadn't heard of Titanium.

Breakfast: bagel

Lunch: catered

Dinner: work event

Good morning, everybody!

I had that breakfast meeting this morning, which went fine, it was a fundraiser for American Heart Association Heartwalk. One thing that they mentioned is that Heart scans are fairly inexpensive and the most effective way to tell if you have any closure in your arteries. I may try it just as a protective measure.

The weekend is all about getting the truck loaded for Marilyn on Sunday morning. Her Mom is coming out and they will drive down to Florida together. I will fly out on Thursday evening to unpack them. My daughter is flying into Chicago for a wedding on Thursday evening. I am going to leave my car at the airport for her, so want to get it washed this afternoon, if possible.

Unfortunately, I won't see her, just trade off cars.

QOTD: Our family room couches do not recline, but our basement TV room ones do. We don't use them that much because the cable isn't hooked up in that room - the kids had just used the TV for gaming. Our TV is upstairs.

Breakfast: Bagel

Lunch: Italian sandwich

Dinner: fish tacos

Good morning, everybody!

4:45 is crazy early. Yikes! I'm in the office today, but tomorrow I have a breakfast meeting in the suburbs, so I don't have to go into the city. It's great because it still counts as an in-office day since it's a work function.

As expected, this has been a pretty easy week so far. I have a couple of calls and things to do and then I will watch at least part of the NFL draft tonight.

Marilyn went through her quarters the other day. She is collecting the woman's quarter series. You can tell those easily because George Washington's head is larger than on traditional quarters. So far she has them all through 2023 but only has one 2024 and no 2025. It takes awhile for them to move around in circulation .

QOTD: I have been whitewater rafting up in Maine. It was fun but a little scary. This is timely though, just Tuesday I was looking at a ride in fly fishing trip in Idaho. It looks awesome but I have not rode since I was in High School, so I would need some practice before I just hopped on.

Breakfast: Protein Bar

Lunch: sandwich

Dinner: meatballs

Good morning everybody!

Did anybody watch the interview with the Australian twins who witnessed a carjacking?

Their names are Bridgette and Paula Powers and the interview is absolutely wild. I think that everybody is OK from the attempted carjacking and accident, but there is some spooky twinning going on in that interview. Maybe twins do have some kind of ESP.

It's pouring here in Chicago. I am home from swimming and it would be nice to go back to bed, but i need to be on a couple of phone calls this morning. Later, I need to go to the gym and we have Happy Hour tonight. This week is continuing to be fairly easy from a work perspective.

QOTD: I like about an average bed and a firm pillow. I need my head propped to fall asleep comfortably, particularly with the CPAP on. Of cours I can fall asleep instantly on the couch in any position.

Breakfast: Egg McMuffin

Lunch: Roast Beef sandwich

Dinner: Spaghetti and meatballs

Good morning everybody!

Thank you for the well wishes yesterday.

I think that today is going to be a pretty easy day. I am going to take advantage of the down time to run out and get my haircut. Probably run out to Crossfit after that. 10:00 to 12:15 is open gym and I usually go to that on Tuesday's. I have a call at 3:30, but not much else on the schedule at this point.

Marilyn was able to get all of the screws out of the boards from my lifting platform, so we are in good shape to load up the truck on Sunday morning.

The tulips from the mall came up yellow and pink, so far. There are some that have not bloomed yet, so we don't know whether they will be the same colors or something different. Anyways' they are pretty and we will definitely do the food donation again this year if we are around.

QOTD: Sometimes I do, but I don't know if it actually correlates to being lucky, or whether it is just a felling.

Breakfast: Bagel

Lunch: Fajitas

Dinner: Sausage

Good morning, everyone!

I haven't updated my ticker yet, but I'm a year older today. Next year is a big one.

We had a great weekend - birthday celebration on Saturday night, got my lifting platform disassembled, and lamb lollipops for dinner last night. Also a good workout on Saturday morning, with the warm weather we can run outside again.

This should be an easy week. Next week (4/28) should be very busy though. We have multiple levels of firm leadership coming into town for various reasons and between meetings, etc. I have to be in the office 4 straight days and go to a dinner on Monday night. I actually reserved a hotel room one night because its just too much back and forth.

QOTD: I didn't try the powders. Every now and then I think about having a Premier Protein just for old times sake. I'm pretty well nourished though.

Breakfast: bagel

Lunch: catered

Dinner: steak and salad

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, everyone!

The concert was fun. Chrissy saw Peter Frampton in 1976, when he was at the height of his stardom: blond locks, muscles, sold out football stadiums, etc. Now he is 75 and showed the audience pictures of his service dog and grandchildren. But he is still a terrific guitar player.

We got home at 11:15, but I didn't sleep well. I have a client that is driving me crazy!! They don't want to pay for service, fine that is there right. But they won't go away either. Keep wanting to schedule calls to try and get free advice. Anyway I slept terribly and 5:00 swimming alarm came quick. I feel better after swimming.

QOTD: I'm intending a really short day this morning, 3:30 CrossFit and hopefully get my lifting platform disassembled for the moving truck. Tomorrow night we are going to dinner to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant has this wine, called Sine Qua None, that I have been wanting to try. Sunday we will go to Mass and have lamb lollipops.

Breakfast: bagel

Lunch: hot dog

Dinner : Chicken Piccata

Jennifer, did you say that you had lost a bunch? Congratulations on that. Great job!

Marilyn is home. We all went out for dinner last night and had a good family meal. Tonight is the concert, so she is coming into town to meet me and I drove in.

She decided that we would do lamb lollipops for Easter. The boys don't like ham and it's just too much for the two of us.

QOTD: I'm with you on the tan color.

Breakfast: protein bar

Lunch: catered

Dinner: probably something light before the concert.

Good morning, everybody!

Woo Hoo, the hot tub is fixed! I took a good 10 minute soak after swimming this morning, and it was nice to have it back. Friday's are especially nice to have because it is a buffer between working out and then heading into the office. A final 10 minutes of warmth and tranquility.

Oh, I also learned that the reason I don't have a pass card for the gym is because I needed to ask for one. When I first started swimming, the coach said that if I stay around then I will probably get a passcard. I didn't understand that meant I was supposed to ask at the desk for one. That will be on my to do list for next week.

My son seems to be feeling better from Sunday, so we are going to sneak out and fish for a couple of hours this afternoon. I have 2:30 call, we will probably go after that. Also, Crossfit today and Marilyn is coming home tonight. Our HBO channels were switched from cable to streaming, so we just re-found them. I watched a few episodes of White Lotus Season 3, and will probably watch the conclusion today.

QOTD: Definitely a gilded era house on the beach. Something along the lines of the Grand Floridian at Disney World. Big kitchen, wine cellar, library, gym and pool. Green Grass and High Tides Forever.

Breakfast: Bagel

Lunch: Ravioli

Dinner: Marilyn should be home at 7:00, I think that I will wait for her.

Good morning, everybody!

Despite my misgivings, I had a pretty productive day yesterday. And after work, I went to the outlet mall and picked up running shoes, flip flops and a bathing suit for Florida. The only thing that I couldn't find was a swim shirt, so I ordered one when I got home last night. Today, I need to get some vitamins to bring down and get to work in the garage. My big thing is the I don't want to have to pack to fly down to Sarasota - just throw my meds, electronics and a book into my backpack and head out.

I got my bathing suit at Brooks Brothers, and it was a weird feeling walking into the store, because after so many years, there are now whole segments of the store that have become not applicable to me. There's no point in buying work clothes when I really only have about a year of in-office work left and part of it is during the summer months. And I don't really need winter stuff if I am going to be a snowbird.

Also on the docket today is a trip to Crossfit and probably a little bit of food shopping to get me through the next two days. Marilyn gets home at about 7:00 on Wednesday. On Thursday we are going to see Peter Frampton as an early birthday celebration for me.

QOTD: Yes. Robert Hunter's Lyrics to the song Jack Straw are based loosely on Of Mice and Men.

Breakfast: Bagel

Lunch: Roast Beef sandwich

Dinner: leftover kielbasa and pierogis unless the boys cook.

Good morning, everybody!

I had a bit of the Sunday Scaries yesterday. That's unusual for me. Not that I go bounding into work on Monday morning, but usually I enjoy the weekend and let Monday come to me. I'm not even super busy today, just dreaded the thought of going back to work today.

To go to your QOTD, Jennifer, it has been an unusually cold spring so far. I think that may be a component of why I felt as I did. Some outdoor weekends will certainly help things.

I did the Fun Run on Saturday, everyone was cute in their superhero costumes. And I got a hat out of the deal.

Marilyn is away for a few days, but I have plenty to do to keep me busy. We will rent the Home Depot truck on April 28th and need to have everything ready to go by then. My lifting platform is about 375 pounds, so I will need help tilting it against the wall for disassembly. The number one priority is to get the area around it ready so that I can round up some helpers and be ready to go.

Breakfast: bagel

Lunch: catered

Good morning, everybody!

I was happy to see that the contractors were in the hot tub starting their repairs this morning. I don't know what they need to do or how long it will take to conclude, but I do know that they can't finish until they get started.

We don't have a ton of plans this weekend, I am doing a little 3K fun run tomorrow morning and I am going to a seminar on how to change my bicycle tires later that day. My son wants to go fishing on Sunday, so that may be the plan. Hopefully, I can start some packing of my garage gym stuff.

At lunch yesterday, the guy next to me ordered a family size deep dish pizza. He was dumbfounded by how large it was. He asked me if I wanted a piece and would have loved to have cancelled my order and just had one slice and a soup. But they were already making my pasta. Hence today's leftovers.

QOTD: I have not yet, but I could definitely see myself going to smaller concerts. I like the idea of shorter drives and free parking. I think the Sphere is attached to a casino but I don't count it.

Good morning, everyone!

I don't feel that close to the weekend but by tomorrow, I'm sure that I will. Meanwhile it's into the office for me today. I'm kind of glad to be going in today because I'm going to run over to Orvis at lunchtime and pick up a few things to bring to Florida.

That means I will try a new lunch place, so hopefully, I find something good. A lot of the places in that shopping area have closed over the years.

Today is a rest day, so I might go to the shopping outlets tonight as well: bathing suit, swim shirt, flip flops and running shoes for Florida.

Good morning, everybody!

I finally made it back to swimming today, and they still don't have the hot tub fixed. I loved to sit in there on a cold morning before starting my day. On Saturday, I am going to a clinic to learn how to change the tires on my bicycle. The guy who coaches us at swimming is also going to be the one who runs the clinic. I told him that I was going to run out and get tubes today, but he said that I should let him help me pick out what I need on Saturday, so that is off of the list.

We firmed up some Florida moving/packing plans yesterday. Next week, Marilyn is going down to Birmingham to get my son's car serviced. He is starting to feel better and is thinking about spending the summer down there. We are going to rent a truck from Home Depot, towards the last week in April. I will pack up the truck, my older son and Marilyn will drive down and then I will fly down to meet them and unpack it. We will all fly back to Chicago, and then, in early May, my youngest and Marilyn are going down to Birmingham for a trial stay. When we get a date for our pool refurnishing, we will go down again, but that might be towards June.

I ordered a bunch of fly tying supplies to keep me occupied while Marilyn is away.

Since we are keeping this house, we are mostly going to be moving gym equipment, fishing gear, Marilyn's kayak, one TV, and some clothes. I am sure that it will add up.

We have Happy Hour tonight. Between switching to every two weeks, fly tying class and travel, I think I have only been 3 or 4 times this year. Hopefully we have a good turnout.

QOTD: This isn't really something that I had thought about. I did meet a woman named Karen, who said that she was reticent to express her opinion, because everybody would say she is just a Karen.

Breakfast: Bagel

Lunch: Hot Dog

Dinner Kielbasa and Pierogies

Good morning, everybody!

Florida pulled it out last night, so I won $166.50 in my brackets. This is only the second time that I have ever won. I have been doing brackets most years since 1981, so I am probably a bit behind even with those two winnings. I used to be in a work pool that had hundreds of entrants, so you had to pick a big upset to have any reasonable chance of competing. At the beginning of March Madness, I said to myself "one thing for certain, it will be warm spring weather by April 7th."

Um, no.

Tuesday is a work from home day. Not too much planned today except for CrossFit and working. I have a number of calls that are interspersed throughout the day. Saturday, I am going to a clinic to learn how to change the tires on my bike, so I need to get some tubes and air (I think it comes compressed in cans?). But the bike shop is closed on Tuesdays, so I can't do that today.

QOTD: I might be allergic to scallops, so I don't eat them and don't get iodine based tests at the hospital.

Thanks, Mary! I was looking at the results for the rest of my gym's group and they were all in the 25-29 age group. It's amazing how quickly you can get in shape at that age.

Ordinarily we fish for small and large mouth bass and some panfish. We would generally release all of those. As Chrissy pointed out, this weekend was Spring Trout season. We probably would have kept those: they are stocked fish in small lake and won't winter over with all the fishing pressure they get.

In Florida, mostly Seatrout, Grouper, Snapper, Redfish, and Snook. Most of those we will keep some and release some. Snook have very tight limits. I've never had it, but I know Liz has and said it's good.

We are planning for a Costa Rica fishing trip next May. That will be big stuff: Sailfish, tuna, etc.
