Surgery Day | 3.24.08
On Monday, March 24th, I will be checking into Baptist Hospital for Dr. Spaw to perform my surgery. As of this morning, I have lost 8 lbs since last Monday, the start of my two week diet. There is something liberating knowing this is the last time I will lose these 8lbs.
I am more anxious than nervous. I am nervous about the pain. I have almost everything packed and ready to go. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers on Monday. So, move over on the loser bench and make room for me on Monday.
Also, did anyone have surgery at Baptist? I wanted to know if a laptop is allowed.

I'm excited for you --- it's such an exciting time, isn't it?! And yes, you can say goodbye to those 8 pounds forever!
And you're gonna send so many more off with them...
Dr. Spaw did my surgery 6 months ago, and I was at Baptist. however, someone else is gonna have to answer the
laptop question
I don't have one, so didn't need to know (but I would assume "yes").
Will be praying for you on Monday ~Tara
Hi Volsdiva, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for Monday. I work at the St. Thomas Health Services at St. Thomas Hospital not at the Baptist location. But if a patient wants to bring a laptop they will not say no. But someone must be there to keep it safe while you are in surgery and out of your room on walks. Just because it is a Christian based hospital doesn't mean that things can't disappear----anyone can walk in a room when it is empty.
The other thing is like Jaded Julie said, you may not feel like have anything to do with it... The post-op period really needs to be for rest, pain control and rest, walking and rest. Get the point...working on a laptop is not considered rest....it can be stressful if you are "working". If just to check emails, that can wait until after you arrive home. REST, WALK, Pain Control, REST, WALK, Pain Control, REST
I will be there on Wednesday having my lap band done with Dr. Morton, pray for me as well. Sherry
