Six years ago today

Six years ago today I had gastric bypass surgery at age 50. I weighed 293# (BMI was 51+). I was taking medication for high blood pressure and was giving myself insulin shots nightly for diabetes. Within a short time both of these issues were resolved. I lost 147# in about a year and have maintained my loss (with a little fluctuation) for five years. My life has changed in so many ways. My fitness level is the best ever and getting even better at age 56. I like the way I look in clothing.  I don’t have issues with fitting in booths or airplane seats. Just wanted to post to commemorate the special day---I will never forget where I came from and am so grateful that I got this chance for a healthy life.

You are truly and inspiration to us all.  You show us that this can work if we just work the tool we have been blessed with.

Congratulations!!!!  Keeping the weight off is a very hard thing to do.  It is nice to fit in regular seats.  I haven't done so good on the fitness part.  You are an inspiration to all of us.

Congratulations Connie.  Time is passing so fast for all of us.  Seems like yesterday we were all starting this process.

Today is my 6th year also. I have been able to stay under the 150 goal that my dr set for me. It gets hard sometimes, but then I just have to take a step back and reevaluate. The only problems I'm having is keeping my iron up. Congrats on your success.
