should I mix it with room temperature water first... it is clumping in cold milk... I know how to do it with coffee... but I thought cold liquid would not be a problem

Put the click in first and add a little milk at a time and mix well, then add rest.  It's hard to not get some clumps, but it actually says to mix with blender I think.  That would probably totally prevent clumps, but would cause a lot of cleaning up!

VICKI-I bought the actual Click shaker thingie-the one with the metal ball in it-it is just AWESOME-no clumps whatsoever-and I count that 60 SECONDS of shaking as EXERCISE (but don't shake it hot-you shake it-then pour in cup, heat and stir-don't ask me how I KNOW)
