Temptation Thursday WLS Express
Good afternoon everyone...I will be looking back at this past week's posts this evening and tomorrow morning to catch up with everyone. Let me do a brief on what's been happening to me.
I started PT 3 weeks ago. I was told that they wanted me out of the wheelchair. I'm like great. I start using the cane immediatly. I'm told 2 weeks ago by the 'senior' PT lady that she is not comfortable with me only being on a cane even though I was totally thinking hard about it. She suggested that I only be using a walker. (My head plays major games with me and the vision of me being on a walker. I tend to think it makes me more disabled looking then the wheelchair which probably isn't the case but my head says it is.) I continue using the cane except when at PT as I tend to try to be a people pleaser. You want me on a walker, ok I'll be on a walker when I'm around you. I goto the baseball game that next weekend. I do take the wheelchair to our section but then the rest of the day I'm using the cane with no issues. The next week at PT my ankle starts hurting a bit. By the end of the week I am icing it with the Ice Man cooler device in the evenings and throughout the night. By this past Tuesday I am at a significant limp to the point that they notice at PT and inform me that I need to go back to my Ortho surgeon before being able to come back and get it looked at. I call me ortho surgeon and his office says that they only deal with Hips and Knees (I always wondered why they were called the Texas Hip and Knee Center...not really) and that I needed to go to my primary to get an Xray. I get an appointment for next week. So I'm back to the wheelchair except for very short distances and for those I'm on crutches or the dreaded walker.
The moral of the story.....I'm thinking I did too much too fast. I was really excited about the whole walking thing that everyone else around does so well. I'm like ok I'm ready to do that too. I'll slow down a bit when my ankle is better.
My temptation is....walking with a cane when I probably shouldn't!! I think my ankle is now keeping that temptation at bay for the moment, however I will not pu**** again after it is better.
Have a great evening everyone!
Let your "temptation" stay at bay for now knowing that if you let yourself "heal" then you will have better luck with what you want to accomplish! GOOD LUCK with your choices =)
*Strength... it's inside, beside, behind and all around me*
