Back from Vacation
My hubbie and I just got back from a week in Canada and had a FABULOUS time.
Just the 2 of us and we hiked our butts off and I had a blast! It felt soooooo good to climb over the rocks and not have my knees screaming. A couple of times Kyle asked me to slow up LOL.
The last B&B we stayed at in Owen Sound on Lake Huron was run by a lady who had a lapband 3 years ago and had lost 138 pounds. Kyle had emailed her about my RNY so she wouldn't be offended when I couldn't eat much of her chef's breakfast and that was how I found out about her WLS and knew she would understand.
When she opened the door she looked at me and said "I thought you said you had WLS?" I said I did and grinned. She said "But, you are such a little bitty thing!" I laughed and whipped out my pictures of me in all my 248 pound glory and her jaw dropped LOL. The waiting list for approval for WLS is over 3 years in Canada so she was self-pay in the USA. She is in an isolated part of rural Canada she doesn't meet many WLS'ers or have local support and had never heard of OH. Such a sweet lady and I sure enjoyed visiting with her.
I loved Canada and enjoyed the cooler weather, but damn food is expensive there!!!! Even splitting entrees with hubbie it was way more than we pay here. Niagara Falls was beautiful also. We walked over to the American side and hiked all over Goat Island and saw some amazing rainbows over the falls. Being married to an artist we visited a local art museum when the weather turned rainy and they had a lot of old artwork by local artists of Niagara from long ago and it was interesting to see it like it was before it became commercialized. I enjoyed the old maps and there was a private library with old musty rare books that you could take off the shelves and browse. I could have spent the whole day there.........
*sigh* Now I gotta go back to work tomorrow - *phooey* LOL.

Sarah...hope you took lots of photos that you can share with us. Sounds like you and your hubby had a wonderful time there. I have never been to Canada nor Niagara Falls. Sounds like a great time and with the heat that we have been having here and all over Texas I bet you did hate to return home to this. Glad you enjoyed your vacation. They don't come soon enough do they?
