Everyone always ask how much water do you need? We have all been told that we need to drink at least 8 8 oz glasses of fluids a day. However, I believe some people tend to forget when they exercise or exert themselves they need more fluids to replace what they are losing. Generally, it is believed that people do not take in enough fluids and for us that can have a tamatic effect on us if we do not take in enough fluids. I came across this article this morning and thought I would share it with the TMB about "how much water do you need?."

As we all know it is hot in Texas during the summer and so we need to take extra pre-cautions. I think everyone should review the signs of heat stress and heat exhaustion and remember it can effect young and old as well as our fury children as well. There are many websites that you find that gives you a list of symptoms for heat stress and heat exhaustion and what to do. Please take the time today and review becuase you may just save the life of a loved one. Heat related deaths can be prevented if the proper precautions and first aid is followed. Thank you all.

Because I am ex-military, I am used to being dehydrated to some degree. Subconsciously I do not take in enough fluids and when I had my surgery it caught to I was in full renal shut down and went to 4 bags of IV fluids. My surgeon asked how I was so darn dehydrated. I simple told that I am be nature somewhat dehydrated and the pre-op nurse directed no liquids after 8:00 P.M.  the night before surgery. The surgeon told me if I ever have surgery again drink plenty of fluids up until midnight. So taking in fluids is tough for me and is a constant battle for me. I have gotten better but like with all changes we make it will take time before it becomes second nature to once again. As i type this response I am just starting my second container of fluids. I early had 20 oz of coffee and 8 ounces skim milk. I am going to down a 12 ounce bottle of flavored water herein the next half hour. I felt it was important to get the word out especially as we start climbing into the up 90's that we need to become better aware of our fluid requirements and review heat related first aid.

Since water is the only thing I drink, I drink a lot of it.  I've got a 32oz bottle that I refill and drink at lesat 5-6 a day.  I can definitely tell when I don't get enough in because I start to retain fluid and feel sluggish.

Thanks for the reminder!

In your case especially staying hydrated is important for the both of you and try to limit the amount of time you are out in the hottest parts of the day. Everybody need to take care of themselves no matter the age in the Texas heat. I youngest daughter has taken to want to fight us getting out of the car and wants to play. A hot car or confined space period is not for a child to play at nor should pets remain in a hot car. I feel there are just too many senseless deaths from the heat and it is up to us individuals you care to get the word out even if it is a simple reminder such as this post.  Please take care, I know when my wife was pregnant during the summer she was always miserable and always tried to stay indoors. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I'm with Deb on this one, and no, I don't mean I'm pregnant, LOL

But especially on days when I work out, I stop counting after my 6th 32 oz bottle of water, some days I know I get more than 6..... and no, water isn't all I drink, I usually get about 80 ozs or more of coffee  in there too......

and yes, I go to the bathroom A LOT.....
