Hey Everyone!
Wow it's been forever since I dropped in here.. It's been 13 months since my surgery and to date I have lost 120 lbs... My surgeron isn't happy that I have been sitting steady where I have been for like 4 months. I have increased working out and I have resorted back to protein drinks only this week so we will see... I don't know if it's all the added stress I've had this last more then 6 months. I really feel like a failure... Anyways I thought I would come and pick ya'lls brain to see if there are any tricks to re jump start losing..
I know I shouldn't compare my weightloss to anyone else but I really hate when my surgeon tells me I should be so much further into my weightloss.. He asked me at my last appointment if I have given up on weighing less...

Your surgeon is a PUTZ! 120lbs in 13 months is great. almost 10lbs a month average.
Are you happy with where you are? Do YOU want to lose more? Can you realistically maintain a lower weight if you go there? Everyone is SO different...don't let him lump you into the masses or some idealistic picture only he may see.
I think you're doing great!!

Nobody who loses 120 pounds is a failure. That is great! How much more does he want you to lose? Do you think you are at a good size and wieght? I have met people whose doctors are from Mars because they want them to be so very small. Even if you really do need to lose a little more, you are not a failure. You have succeded in losing 120 pounds, and that is something to be proud of. How does your BMI look?
I would not call losing 120 lbs a failure. Your surgeon should know that everyone is different and as far as being at the same weight for four months you might have reached a plateau. My surgeon told me to expect to reach a plateau within my first year after surgery, and that as long as I remain focus on my goal and follow my dietary plan and excerxise the weight will continue to come off. It seems your surgeon itstead of criticizing should be asking what has change that maybe causing the plateau to last and should be offering support. Remain focus on your goal and make sure to go back to the basics. It sounds like you are seriously trying to continue. My surgeon never really set a goal for me because he does not believe it is his responsibility, and he is right it is my responsibility to set and meet my goal all he can and did do was give me a tool to reach my goal. It is up to me. It is up to us to utilize the tool our surgeons gave us by following a specific diet, exercise, and rules that come with it. My biggest concern is reaching my goal and being able to keep my weight with 5 lbs of that goal. Do not be ashamed of what you have accomplished and remember you did not start this journey for your surgeon. You started this journey for yourself and your own reasons. You only have to answer to yourself. You should be proud of what you have accomplished and continue your hard wor****il you reach your goal.
