Tom Update - All Good

It has been a long 4 years and for those of you who do not know our story, my husband Tom had complications from his RNY that threatened his life.  You can check my profile for some of the details.

We have crossed yet another milestone in his recovery.  Tom is an avid Boy Scout.  He earned his Eagle at 16 and has never left scouting.  God knew what he was doing when he gave us boys.

This week Tom is at Boy Scout Camp.  I am humbled by his progress and he is once again in his element.  I never dreamed that he would recover enough to once again participate in the thing that feeds his soul.  He is whole and able to help those boys become whatever they want to be.

It was the prayers of our OH peeps that not only brought him back but supported me on this epic journey and  the results are so much more than we ever hoped.

Tom now has his shop up and running and on the days that he is able he is out there making doll furniture, bird houses, toys and whatever else he can think of.  He has a good life, with no medical tethers holding him down.

He does still have problems, some the result of medications that saved his life.  But it is a good life and very manageable.

There is one more goal he has and we are going to work on that one.  He wants to go back to Big Bend and spend a week camping after Christmas.  He may not make it this year, probably next.  He is going on the September cruise, which was one of my dreams not his.  We are charged to be able to do things with our chosen family.

Thank you for your support, your prayers and your friendship.  With continued prayers we have survived what very well could have been a very sad ending.

Love to you all.

QUE...you could've written this a lil sooner...like BEFORE mascara, ya know....crap...gotta start the warpaint all over...

To say TOM is an inspiration is like saying Elvis could sing..there just aren't enough words...people who know TOM and his story know therere would BE no story without YOUR faith, unending love, etc, etc

Ain't all FAIRY FARTS and RAINBOWS sometimes-huh? Y'all sure took "another route". I know everything happens like it's supposed to..but sheesh...y'all have sure had more than your share...

I LOVE YOU, my Sister!!

AWWWWWWWWW   I love stories like this........I"m so sorry that you all have had to go through hell to get to this point.  You all are truly an inspiration to me.

When I first logged on this morning and saw your the heading of this story - I thought something else happened to Tom yesterday or overnight !!

Praise God that he is able to move on and do better and improve every day.   I know for a fact that each day he is able to get out and DO WHAT HE LOVES THE MOST is the best medicine for the soul that anyone could give.

((((((((((((((((((huggss)))))))))))))))  to you both !!

Love Phyllis

Que, you and Tom are great mentors to WLS. It's been a rough 4 years but look where y'all would have been without going thru with the surgery. God puts test in our lives to build strengh in our faith. And y'all sure passed the test!!
Hope to see y'all soon,
Jack

oh now i'm crying.. but in a great way.  I remember coming on here and hearing about Tom and Que and all the medical updates. I grew to love you both before I even met you.

Now i'm just beaming with pride to hear about Tom's successes and to call you both, dear friends.
