Update...
I'm still in the hospital. I'm having a real real bad time with gas. My NG came out yesterday as well as my catheter and even tho I'm walking a LOT nothing is budging. Doc and nurses all say they hear activity in my tummy but for the sake of my comfort and making sure everything is running like it should be I'm here 1 more night.
Found out some 'good' news. My pouch is 'new and improved'. Because the intestine needed to be cut away my pouch would have ended up with a dead end so my pouch is actually smaller than before. Also, he sitched my stoma open at 23mm and ran stitches all the way around it so the likelyhood of a stricture is also down. YAY! I'm certainly going to have to re-learn what will be tolerated and what won't tho. I'm basically starting over with a whole new pouch. Maybe this time I'll actually getting around to naming her.
My fluid output is good tho so I'm getting rid of my IV and pain pump today. They will leave the shunt in in case its needed overnight but I need to stop leaning on my morphine drip and learn to suck down the dreaded liquid lortab. Won't have morphine at home so gotta get moving now.
Thats all for now. As soon as Clint gets back from lunch I'm going to lap a bit of the hall and see if I can finally shake this gas loose.
Hope you all are doing well. Missed everyone yesterday. Take care.

Tricks from a nurse...If the gas pain is high, ie in the chest-have Clint "burp" you like a baby. If it's low walking should do the trick. If it's really low but just won't "come out" try raising your bed up, leaning across it so you're bent at a right angle and it might help. Pain meds are also very constipating and they slow down the bowel so only take as much as you need.
Glad to hear things are slowly getting better. Keep us posted...now rest, walk, sip, repeat, lol.
