 Hi everyone,

I am new to Texas and new to OH.  I just saw Dr. Nick Nicholson for my first consultation and I think I am going to  stick with him.  I am planning on have RYN and was just wondering if any one can tell me about their experiences with him and his staff?

Thanks,
J

 Hi J,

Welcome to the TMB ( Texas Message Board ) and to Texas.   I am not one of Dr. Nick's patients but I do know that he is a excellent surgeons.    Hope you like Texas.    If you don't get any answers you may want to re-post this tomorrow.   The weekends are pretty dead here on the messageboard.
Good luck as you begin your journey to a healthier lifestyle.

Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

 Thanks Vivian,

I have been on my journey for the last nine years when I start the process for surgery and my insurance company went from paying 100% with no copay to completely excluding WLS. I missed my opportunity once and I won't let it happen again.

Thanks,
J

WOW I am so sorry to hear about that.   So many insurance companies won't pay for WLS now.   It is a shame since obesity is costing them so much in the long run.   Do you have any co-morbidities that maybe you can appeal to the insurance co. and maybe they will consider paying for your WLS???  I have heard of this happening to lots of  people and winning the appeal.   Just a thought for you to think about.   Anyway I am with you.....I would let this time slip away to get your WLS.   Good luck to you.

Hi and welcome to the TX msg board!

Please feel free to post on the daily "WLS EXPRESS" or Train as we call it. It's a great place to catch up on what's going on with the people on this board and to post with issues or questions you might have.

Also watch for the various posts about group meetings and get togethers, there are several in the metroplex and they're always a great source of info, and a great place to meet with our fellow Texans!

Good Luck on your journey to a new you!

Welcome J~ I didn't go to Dr Nick but he comes highly recommended and I have met him personally and he's a really nice guy so I think you made a great choice.  Didn't have your doc but I can tell you about my personal experience with my RNY:  I went from 242 to 146 (size 24 to an 8) and it has been over 3 years and I'm still at goal.  I lost 80% of my weight in the first 8 months then slowly have trickled down over the past 2 years.  There is nothing I can't eat (except milk in large quantities) so I virtually eat whatever I want just in smaller quantities.  I no longer have any medical or health issues which is awesome.  But the best thing about the whole experience has been the lifelong friends I'm met thru this site.  The Dallas area people are very active and have lots of events to attend so feel free to join us.  You'll only be a stranger for about 5 minutes.  I'm  glad you have another opportunity to change your life-it will be SO worth it!!

 Hi J...from another "J"  :)

Welcome to Texas.  I moved here almost 10 years ago and like it MUCH more than I expected.  Especially considering I moved from the best city in the world...Chicago.  I hope you like it here.

The Texas message board is full of super people.  Everyone here is very supportive so ask any questions.  Don't feel they are stupid.

I'm in the DFW area also so if you need a 'tour guide' or something I'd be happy to meet up anytime.

Good luck!
