I can't seam to get my protein powder to mix with my water very well.  I either end up with lumps or it foams up.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
J

Invest in a magic bullet-they're awesome.  I mix mine with Hood's Chocolate Calorie Countdown "dairy product" (Walmart)- it makes it taste much better and it's richer.

The Magic Bullet is good for shake like consistency.  Unfortunately my pouch seems to not like shakes blended it it with ice.  For me there is too much air when I blend up my shakes and make 'frostys'.

If you want a liquid beverage like shake, a Blender Ball bottle does great.  There is a little whisk ball inside that as you shake your liquid and powder together it agitates and helps break up the lumps.

Don't give up on it...I threw out a whole cannister of Cappucino powder once because it clumped in my coffee until Cajun girl said how to mix it right.

For hot liquids like coffee, you have to let it cool a bit or add a cold milk to mix in the protein or it will clump up and isn't drinkeable!

For cool, I just use a spoon if not mixing in a magic bullet type blender.  I also have a tiny short whisk that works well too.  Just mix the heck out of it with a spoon and it should be fine.  My fav protein drink right after surgery was 1 c Hoods calorie countdown chocolate milk with 1 Tbsp or so decaf instant folgers, a couple of splenda packets and some vanilla protein powder.  Now  I drink Click or my Cappucino powder in coffee with added ff milk to make a latte.

Look at Bariatriceating.com for a lot of shake recipes!

You don't say whether you're trying to mix it in cold or ho****er. For anything hot, they say over 130º but I've found if it's too much over warm it still clumps. So measure your powder and mix just enough cold/cool water with it to mix a consistency like a thick batter. Then add whatever hot liquid you want to use. This is the same for any kind of protein powder whether it's unflavored or not.

For mixing with cold...unfortunately almost all brands of protein powder will produce foam when shaken, it's just the nature of the protein beast! A blender jar with blender ball mixes very well and you can set it in the Fridge for a few minutes to let the foam settle then scoop it off. The minute amount of protein you'll lose with the foam isn't enough to worry about. If you want milkshake-like thick shakes then an appliance like The Bullet or any blender will aerate your shake to make it super thick. Or you can add 8-10 big ice cubes for that Frosty effect.

I mix mine into my coffee every morning and just add enough 2% milk to cool it down and then use one of those mini-whisks to stir it and it doesn't clump and isn't foamy.
