Need Major help with Carb Control
The best thing that I have found for me is IF I am going to eat things that aren't exactly healthy then I measure it out AHEAD of time. If the serving size says 14 crackers, then I put 14 crackers in a ziplock bag and put the rest of it away. If I told myself I'd never allow myself to eat another piece of candy, etc I'd probably eat so much of it that I'd explode. I CAN however control the portions I allow myself. Before surgery I'd eat 6 cookies, now I'm content with one or two...etc. To me its not about deprivation but portion control.

This is what works for me. I recognize others believe in all things in moderation. That does not work for me personally. Carbs are a huge trigger. So I do not eat anything white, i.e., rice, read, pasta, potatoes... I do eat whole grain saltines, and I am presently struggling with them. I know if I would eliminate them from my diet, my cravings would cease. Also, if I know something riggers me, I eat it at night as a snack prior to going to bed. I fall asleep and don't deal with the cravings. I had to take that approach with watermelon. I can only eat it late; otherwise, it causes me to want to graze. No white carbs, etc., has been very beneficial for keeping me on task.
