Holiday Blues

So, I'm going through the holiday blues right now and working to see the positive side of things...

In a nutshell; haven't been logging in much lately because I'm having trouble being positive and staying wrapped up in issues.

Problems:  work, work, work.  Wasn't sure I was going to retain a position with my company during the massive re-org we're going through.   Knew my position was moving states and they wanted to keep me in the current role, but I'm not mobile at this time and frankly, don't want to live in Bentonville, AR - affectionatly referred to as cult-ville (HQ of Wally world).   If I had known this would happen, frankly I never would have left my previous employer.  The boss I followed to the current company won't be my manager any longer, so I get to start over; proving myself to a new boss.

Results:  I have a job, but no longer a career with my company and I have to make peace with that.  My new position is a lateral move, with less responsibilities;no longer a manager myself.  I'm moving to new accounts and will have the East coast - some of the most difficult customers we have.   Have to learn a whole new job, after I train people in AR to take over my current position.  So, I have lot's to learn and that's not a bad thing, but it's like starting over after 3 years of very hard work, long hours, blood, sweat and tears....  It's frustrating!  And, no matter how I try to spin this, it feels like a demotion - in spite of them telling me over and over that I'm their 'top performer' and how they are positioning me for future growth.

To the positive side of things; I may gain some personal time back around mid-year next year.  Perhaps going back to college, or at the very least getting back into a regular workout pattern again.    I'm tired, frustrated and working hard to accept the changes as positive.   But, as my previous boss used to say - fake it til you feel it.   I'm having to live that motto right now.

thank you for letting me whine :)

That really stinks Lisa! I'm sorry this is happening.

Hey Lisa!  I am a WallyWorlder, too.  Reorganization sucks!  Not sure I have any words of wisdom for you, but I will send prayers!

I wish I could say it gets better, but my honest advice would be "get used to it".  I have worked for 4 companies in the same physical location over 20 years and survived 3 major down-sizings and it is upsetting and nerve-wracking.  I have lost count at how many times I had to break in a new boss and "start over" establishing credibility.  The first 10 years I was there it was stable and I was being groomed to take over my boss's job - oh, how I miss those days!

Hang in there!  Hopefully the next time the winds shifts, it is in your favor!
