5 days out

I am 5 days out and still have port pain. This surprises me because from all I have heard and read on boards folks go back to work in a week or less. I am planning to go back to my desk job on monday - day 8. Of course I am still having other pains from being positioned during surgery - so hopefully my tummy pain is just organs and muscles strain. I am getting my protein (thanks to isopure - 40 g protein and 160 calories) and walking and moving around. Yesterday my regular doctor gave me different cream for my allergic reaction to the betadine prep and an antibiotic for the port incision that opened and has some drainage. I went to him since my surgeon is an hour away. I have lost weight - but I don't feel that it is real fat, only water. Kim in Shen Valley

I am glad that you are doing well. It takes awhile to get over surgery. Anytime they give you anistesia (spelling?) it is hard on your body. My J-tube got infected with some sort of infection and I had to go to my pcp to get cream for it. Good luck with your port incision. Everyone reacts to surgery different and dont push yourself. Keep us posted and hope to see you in April! BTW.... water weight is weight and it is a beginning! WOOHOO!!! Cathy

Kim, Glad to hear that you're home and well on your way to a new you! Sorry to hear about your discomfort, but remember, this is a major blow to your body - be sure to listen to it when it says you need to rest. Keep up the great work on the protein - I hear that's key to success! All the best - and keep us posted. I agree - any weight loss is good weight loss!! Enjoy it! Hugs, Chele

It gets better really fast -- I had RNY - not the band -- but the 6th day for me was a real turn-around! Good luck --- are you trying anything special to get the Isopure down. I know it is a great way to get the protein but the taste......ohhh.

Don't worry. You'll have some aches and pains for awhile. The best part is that it's done !! You were beautiful at the Meet n Greet this month. I can't imagine what you'll look like by the April meeting. We are all here to support you so don't hesitate to ask questions and lean on us for advice. Love, Jennifer
