Is it difficult to have willpower?
Aloha and Welcome- Not sure reading these boards if everyone is in this boat- but I don't need willpower because I am one of the lucky ones who has NO hunger, NO cravings- makes it ridiculously easy to walk away from bad choices. I am elated that food no longer has control over me and giggle daily when I get on the scale. I sincerely hope you have the same wonderful experience! Be well- XOLori
Hi Donna:
First of all Good luck with your surgery!
As to willpower, at first, I had no desire to eat or drink. I had to work hard to drink enough to keep myself hydrated. The first month is pretty miserable, but keep in mind, that period ends quickly! After I was allowed to eat soft foods, I was happier! I am not as lucky as others who feel no hunger. I do get hungry, but I find that I get satisfied quickly. I can't say that I get cravings, but when I see chocolate of ice cream, I want to have some! I also find that there are days when I can eat more than others. Then there are days when I barely eat 3 oz. at every meal. I am very happy that I had the surgery, and I only regret not having had it earlier. My biggest fear is that my stomach will stretch again! I was the kind of person that could eat a plate of dessert even though I just stuffed myself. Now willpower is not a problem. When you feel stuffed, you can't eat, even if you want to.

It is a different kind of hunger, like your body letting you know that you need to eat. it's not like before the surgery when all you think about is eating. I'm not the best at following a plan, but I have a cup of tea when I wake up, an egg for breakfast an hour or two later, 1/2 of a small Wendy's chili for lunch, another tea in the afternoon, and then dinner, which is anything that I'm making for my family. I can have about 4 oz. and then I'm stuffed! Sometimes I'll have a snack later, and then another cup of tea. I have gone on vacation, and i gained 1 pound, but i don't think it had anything to do with the food. it was the wine!!
