i ate potato chips!!!! :-(
About a month after surgery, I went unprepared to a party that served all the wrong foods for sleevers. It was a function that my husband wanted to go to. I fell into the potato chip trap too. They tasted good and nothing happened to me...heck, after all the chewing, it was salty mashed potatoes by the time I swallowed them. I felt like a dummy but just let it go like a bad fart or stupid comment. I lost a lot of weight that week anyway...I didn't let it become a habit...so it didn't have any adverse effects. The best thing I learned from Kaiser's options program that when you make a mistake, acknowledge it and move on. Beating yourself up is counterproductive to success. You do have to be careful of your staple line, etc. But I think the most important part is forgiving yourself and doing better. That and being prepared with sleeve-friendly snacks. Good luck and hang in there!
