need a little help from my friends! protein shake suggestions needed
Well you know how protein goes, something you like someone else might hate. Here is what I use
http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/nutrition-calories/f ood/muscle-milk/protein-plus-powder-vanilla-shake/
I buy it at Costco @ about 28.00 per 3# container. I use 1 1/2 scoops and
I mix it with 1 1/2 cups ice, 1 1/2 cups water, one splenda pkt. and 1 1/2 tbs banana cream pudding mix. Whip that all in a blender till nice and frothy and bam.........it is nice and thick and does well to replace a meal.
Just saying................Good luck finding that protein deal...........I know how it goes, I did well in the beginning with the Premier Choc from Costco but I think I just got burned out on that one.
Have a great day.......and again good luck

Unjury, once a day, every day, in 8 oz. 1% milk. Same breakfast every day since surgery - boring? Yep, exactly the point - no interest in making food decisions in the a.m., just want to start me day.
Did a double scoop in 8 oz. for the 1st 100 lbs. of weight loss - presto - 48 g. of protein to start the day. Dietitian loved the idea and the results. I'm one week short of 5 mos. post-op and down 115 lbs.
I have to be totally honest with myself about food choices, so I log everything I eat/drink in my computer journal and it gives me a 100% accurate accounting of input. I used to lie to myself far too often about what I was consuming and why. I can't let that happen now that I've committeed to this program. Wishing you the best as you continue down the weight loss staircase. Congrats on the weight loss so far.

Thanks guys, i really appreciate all the good wishes and suggestions. I went to Walmart today so i picked up some of the body fortress and some frozen berries so we'll see how that works out. This weekend is completly blown as my bday is next week --- a friend took me to lunch today, --- my daughter is here so taking me to dinner tonite, --- going with another friend tomorrow for dinner --and had a day at the races yesterday so my body will probably be so relieved on Monday when i start doing the shakes lol You guys truly are a great bunch of wonderful people :o) jeani
I made some smoothie kits tonight. I used the instructions from here. http://bariatricfoodie.blogspot.com/2011/01/bf-basics-protei n-smoothie.html
Basically, spoon plain greek yogurt into ice cube trays, freeze overnight or until frozen. Take two cubes and 1/2 cup frozen, no sugar added fruit (your choice of flavors) and put into small sandwich bags. These can be mixed in a blender with milk and your regular protein powder.
Now, I'm using a bit less fruit since I need to keep a closer eye on my carbs, but I will use some Torani sugar free syrup to aid with taste in that regard and some ice cubes to bulk it up. This will be more of a smoothie than a shake and should be more filling. The greek yogurt will be a nice protein boost, too. Two cubes is about 2 ounces of yogurt. Fage total 2% has 20 grams of protein in 7 ounces so, this will add some protein (maybe around 5 grams or so, I'm bad with math someone who is better with it might be able to correct me, LOL), which is nice.
